A one-year-old baby boy and 58 dogs were found in a Springtown, Texas home covered in feces and filth.
Authorities arrested the five family members responsible, who are now charged of child endangerment and animal cruelty.
A report from Fox News said 48-year-old Teresa Weldon had as many as 200 dogs over the course of two years from local shelters and claimed to run an animal rescue operation. The shelters believed the dogs were being mistreated under her care so authorities began to investigate.
Police ending up finding 58 dogs living in filthy conditions, with 31 of them living in stacked crates without adequate food or water. Another 27 were loose outside. Teresa’s 1-year-old grandson was found in a crib in the home.
Two of the dogs were euthanized and another five puppies died shortly after the raid, said a report from the sheriff’s office.
Teresa was arrested along with her husband Harry Weldon, son Joseph Weldon and their two other children.
