[INTERVIEW] Willow Smith Regrets Fame: ‘I Wish I Wasn’t Famous’

In an emotional new interview, Willow reveals she regrets her road to fame and hardly feels like a regular girl anymore.

As the daughter of one of the most famous couples in Hollywood, and with a burgeoning pop career on her own, Willow Smith admitted that she’s struggling with the intense pressures of the public eye. (Her parents’ persistant divorce rumors probably don’t help, either).

“If I could change one thing about my life, it would probably be I wouldn’t be famous,” the 11-year-old daughter of Will Smith, 43, said in the new conversation series Red Table Talk.

The young pop star added that being in the limelight has made it difficult for her to get around. “Let’s say if a regular girl is going to the book store, it’s ten times harder to go everywhere [when you're famous]…it’s going to take me ten more minutes to get there. Because I have to call security.”

Willow, however, did add that her fame can be a blessing: “It’s not like I can’t reverse being famous…but if there’s a problem in the world, then more people will listen to me.”

The interview was part of a surprisingly real and powerful conversation with her mother Jada Pinkett-Smith, 40, and grandmother Adrienne Banfield-Jones.

Poor Kid….. One can’t imagine being so young and have people judge you for the simplest things….. Getting back to the roots may not be a bad thing….. However it will be hard having the parents she has

Title does not fit the interview, she want to know who her mom and gammy was before fame to really find out who she is and should be about herself and that is important to a young girl. where did her mom grow up and visit her moms home town. All they probable know is life as it is not family roots. She did not say she regrets being famous. So if you responded without watching the whole interview then the comments are not true.

All of this “You wanted to be famous so don’t be ungrateful” crap is idiotic. How can she help that she was BORN into a famous family? Being the kid of celebrities I’m sure she can’t just sit at home and not get involved in award shows, her parents’ celebrity life, etc. I’d think certain things are expected in famous families. And just because she obviously likes to express herself, like any other teen, doesn’t mean she’s trying to get attention and fame. Her self-expression just happens to be amplified a lot more than ours b/c she has pre-determined fame. And why would you attempt to bully an 11 year old via the web, anyway? Sounds pretty low to me.. Let the girl live!

She woudlnt be able to scratch bellow her nose and the paparazzi would take a picture and next thing you notice, shes all over magazines,televisins,and internet.

So what? That doesn’t negate the fact that she’s a kid and has a lot of pressure on her for a kid her age. Yes, logically she knew what she was getting into. But she’s young and she’s a kid, you don’t realize the ramifications of things until you experience them. Nothing wrong with that, it doesn’t make her emotions or feelings any less valid just because she and her family are famous.

Okay, if you think that a child of that age understands all the issues with being that famous, then you need to have your head examined! She is still innocent and naive. If anyone is to blame, it’s her parents! I am not saying that it was a horrible decision, some children deal with it better than others, but if it is bothering her that much get her counseling so that she can learn to cope with it. I am not saying medicate her, but some therapy never hurt anyone and a child that young who is expressing such sadness, may need an impartial person to talk to. All you idiots out there need to shut up and find something better to do with your time than judging a 12 year old child. When I was that age, I wanted to do everything my parents were doing, and just because she has been around it doesn’t mean she understood it as well as some one who deals with it personally. It was her Parents, not her the tabloids and fans were after. I could rant on forever about this, but seriously people if you don’t have anything intelligent to say then back off.
