'Vampire Diaries': Elena Needs To Be With Damon Not Stefan

Elena chose Stefan over Damon into be her lover in the final minutes of last night’s ‘Vampire Diaries’ season finale, but she chose the wrong man for all the wrong reasons!

Here’s the bottom line about Elena: she hates to hurt ANYONE! She’s such a mush-ball she even has stood up to and developed feelings of affection for evil original vampire, Klaus, who tried to kill her!

Elena is also a girl with serious martyrdom issues. How many times has she offered to sacrifice herself to save someone else – her sister, her brother, Stefan. So if she’s willing to sacrifice her life to protect someone she loves AND she hates to hurt anyone’s feelings, no wonder she’s willing to choose the Salvatore brother, who she thinks needs her the most – Stefan – even if she doesn’t love him as much as his bro – Damon.

Elena’s love choice in my opinion was a sympathy decision. She feels obligated to Stefan. He was her first vampire love. He’s been through hell and more, being compelled to go back to evil, human-killing vampire ways by the original vampire Elijah. Elena, believes that Stefan NEEDS her more and that he’ll be more hurt by being rejected by her, than will Damon.

So Elena is sacrificing her own feelings of deep and erotic attraction to Damon, because she is such a good girl, who is willing to put herself last.

But of course, it’s a huge mistake. Yes she does love Stefan. Elena is a genuine loving young woman and she has deep feeling for Stefan but I’d guess that these have become more like love for a brother or best friend feelings than love for a longterm lover.

The problem is as we all know; you really can’t have a whole-hearted long term love affair with your guy best friend. Bella learned that in Twilight when she had to make her equally tough choice to commit to Edward over Jacob.

Elena, no matter how much you deny it, you NEED to be with the brother that you are passionately attracted to and long to be with – if only your guilt wasn’t holding you back.

Elena, you must get over your enormous and self destructive guilt trip. Especially, now that you’re a vampire with all eternity ahead of you – you must be with your real true love and the brother you’re passionately and erotically attracted to! And no question about it – it’s Damon.

Stelena is love. Damon and Elena have chemistry but together they wouldn’t be right. Damon has issues with sleeping with other women and lashing out when things don’t go his way. Elena is always trying to sacrifice herself for the people she loves. Damon wouldn’t let that happen, another reason why there relationship wouldn’t work out. Damon and Elena together would have so many issues. Stefan and Elena together is like magic, they both love each other so much and they both respect each other’s opinions. Most Delena fans are bias because they think Damon is the hotter bro and many other DE fans want Damon and Elena together because they would be something new to the show. While Stefan was out there saving Damon’s life, he hooks up with the love of his life and of course Elena since she’s HUMAN, is gonna fall in love with him while her true love is away with Klaus. Now in the middle of Season 3 Elena finds herself attracted to Damon, but she loves Stefan as well. She’s always loved Stefan all along, she just can’t help herself but to be attracted to Damon. On the long run, she chose Stefan. NOT BECAUSE she felt obligated to, it’s because she loves him more then Damon. Stelena is the love story of The Vampire Diaries just ask Julie Plec. Now of course everyone knows the saying “If you love two people, choose the second, if you really loved the first, you wouldn’t of fell for the second.” I think that quote is WRONG. “If you love two people choose the first because the FIRST person, is always going to be your FIRST choice.” StelenaForever<3

There are some real stelena jerks on here. Stelena is boring. Like, honestly. Get over it. I’m ready to see a love story that will blow my socks off, that’s why we started watching this show, right? You know what? I want to see Stefen and Katharine together. Opposites attract. SK and DE are opposites, which is awesome, it’s more fun to watch.
Live a little, life is too short for it to be predictable even if it is fake, like the show is…. lol (don’t forget that, it’s only a show.)

And that’s what SE is: Predictable. Every time Elena went back for Stefen or whatever I rolled my eyes, literally. SO annoying. True love! True love! B.S. Go back to Twilight. (And truthfully, I would have rather seen Bella with Jacob when it all came down to it lol just saying)

I actually didn’t care who got Elena…. until things got so interesting. Regardless to what anyone’s saying on this issue, if it doesnt stay interesting I am not watching anymore. (subtext: if Elena doesnt start letting her heart talk and be honest… loving Damon… I’m not watching anymore.)

Lets be honest…
YES Stefan is the one who can give Elena the sense of security she needs. He has unconditional love for her that she knows will always be there even in his darkest times. Hes cares about what she wants and respects her choices. He would go to the end of the earth and back for her without any questions. So yes, Stefan in the grand scheme of things would be the best choice for her in the sense of feeling forever safe and with the thought of him never running out on her when things get tough.

But Damon.. NO he doesn’t give her that sense of security like Stefan does because of how he acts but its obvious that its there. Damon would push her and make her come out of her comfort zone. It wouldn’t always be rainbows and cotton candy for them as a couple but life isn’t and shouldn’t be. She makes him want to change for her even though him being the ‘bad brother’ is all he knows. He would give her a life filled with suprises and not just another yesterday. He’s selfish when it comes to her but that just shows how much he truly cares for her. He would choose saving her life over anyone elses even if she would hate him for eternity. So yes, Damon in my own opinion is who she should end up with. Hes troubled but when it comes to Elena there is nothing more important to him.

In my opinion Elena is constantly loosing the people she loves. With Stefan she feels completely 100% sure that he will always be there no matter what. With Damon its an open book and I think shes scared to let go of something so secure because after everything shes been through Stefan is the one person who makes her believe that he will never go anywhere.

All in all, I think this quote is genius and says it all:
“If you love two people at the same time, choose the second. Because if you really loved the first one, you wouldn’t have fallen for the second.”

Stefan and Elena loved each other unconditionally and love is a roller coaster ride, I love Stefan. (I’m into good guys even though Damon is a good guy I believe inside) although I have to be honest I like Damon too, and this love triangle just makes this show exhilarating! Damon was there for Elena, he spoke his mind and he loved her unconditionally as well. Damon is attractive, funny, sarcastic, charming, smooth, suductive and gentle. He shows his gentle and loving side around Elena, that’s how he used to be before he was turned but he still is that way deep inside.i love Elena and Damon’s chemistry, and Stefan and elena’s but I have to agree Stefan deserves someone who will love him and only him and not fall for his brother. Elena is a wonderful, sweet and beautiful girl and whoever she chooses, should be her choice without doubt and guilt involved. If Elena’s heart longs for Damon then I say go for it, don’t feel bad. I can’t wait for the show to return!!

This article just shows whats wrong with women today. Always going.after the bad guy and wanting to change him I.to the good guy that you already have. I’m not saying stefan hasn’t done anything wrong but that was under the influence of klaus. Damon does bad things just because he enjoys it. Stefan respects elena wishes and choices even if he doesn’t agree with them because she is her own person and he respects that while Damon will completely ignore her wishes. For, example if you truly love someone you respect their decisions just like wanting to save her family and friends over herself when the reason they are getting attacked or dying is because of her. But Damon would kill everyone to protect Elena and Stefan wouldn’t so in.the end she couldn’t trust Damon to do as she wished. If it we’re Damon at the last episode to save her or Matt he would have choose her but Matt would be dead and she wouldn’t be able to forgive Damon especially because its was again chris fault that they ended up in the water to begin with so TEAM STELENA!!!

Ha, ha, Im sorry but the last episode was STUPID and definitely not a win for SE fans. You would NEVER save a friend first over your most precious loved one regardless of what they indicated. Even Paul shook his head at conventions. Yep Torry would of been out of the car first not the family friend or dog. So yeah give me Damon anyday. The only one who has a brain and a back bone apparently. Im also sick of Stefan the so called saint. He’s done nothing but hide things, lie and um yeah rip hundreds of people apart. The thing is too, Stefan DID kill hundreds of people for Elena! More than Damon EVER had! Remember when he chose to follow Klaus? Sure, he did it for his love for Elena. But not only did Stefan kill people, he ripped them apart in the most gruesome ways and put their body parts back together for a sick show. (Damon, at least what I have noticed from first season, killed his victims quickly. To add, Damon hardly ever kills any human, anymore!) And that is Stefan’s dark side. It’s even darker and more filled with guilt than Damon’s. In fact, Stefan MADE Damon the way he became. Stefan doesn’t really help Damon get better, either, he makes him more rebellious. Stefan was even worse than Damon, more blood thirsty and had a sicker mind than Damon’s. If it wasn’t for Liz, Stefan’s vampire best friend, he would never had changed.

Another thing too, people keep saying Elena and Damon in this past season changed a lot but (many of them forget to mention) so did Stefan! A LOT more- and not so much for the better. But Damon is changing, AND for the better. Elena makes Damon a better person, and I really admire Elena in many ways. (Elena is not selfish, she is willing to put herself last before everybody else, even if it means her life, and that’s why I like her. But sometimes she goes too much into it.)
I do like Stefan, at least he realizes what he did was wrong and tries hard to better himself, that’s what I admire about Stefan. But he has a real double personality. He can change from being all-so-good to a ripper. That’s how I see it.

To be honest, Damon and Stefan are both the same, neither of them deserve Elena and Elena should be more honest with them both, even if it hurts one or the other, and how she really feels. Or else this will keep going on and on, with Elena going back from Damon to Stefan to the other way around. But it all comes back down to Elena, and her decisions.

I believe that Elena and Stefan belong together for many different reasons. First the whole argument where people say that Damon met Elena first and now this will change her mind is bull crap. Damon didn’t love Elena in those 2 minutes of talking to her. He stopped her because she looked like Katherine, and personally I wouldn’t want someone to fall in love with me because I remind them of a past love and I don’t think I’m alone with that. Also Stefan loves Elena; he does everything for her. He was her first love and when they look into each other’s eyes, there’s no need for words you can see the chemistry. Even when Stefan was out killing people under Klaus’ control she loved him with all heart no matter what. And in the last episode she chose Stefan, it could have been the last time she would ever be with either of them and she chose Stefan, not Damon but Stefan. And also, this isn’t cliché because Stefan and Elena aren’t that conventional vampire-human couple anymore. Stefan and Elena are meant to be, sorry Damon.

I’m so sick of them main triangle. So sick. Delena is not as epic as everyone thinks and it’s one of the more abusive ships I’ve come across. They bring out the worst in each other. Stelena is better, but worst written for.

Hm, I think it is fair if Elena chooses who she wants to be with. Stefan or Damon? Who cares. They both care about her right? There are some bad and good to both guys. They’re both attractive and sweet in their own ways. Elena just needs to pick one. Stefan was there for Elena and the only reason that drove him away from her was Klaus. When that happen the only person we know she would turn to was DAMON! I’m sure both guys try to kill her in some way, and still love her in the other. I think the only problem is ELENA needs to make a final decision and choose one. ONCE AND FOR ALL! :O If it’s going to be Damon let it be. If it’s going to be Stefan let it be. Just one ELENA! ONE! NOT TWO! ONE! ( Oh, but for my personal opinion…I could see that Damon is a really nice and generous guy on the inside but Stefan will always be that one guy we all love. I think if Elena do choose Damon, Stefan will definitely be hurt but understand and let them be. Whatever choice she makes hope it’s for the best!

I think Elena should be with Damon simply because Damon loved her enough to erase her memory when he told her how much he cared for her. he was willing to let her go because he felt like he didn’t deserve her. If you love a person enough you set free and if its a true love maybe Elena will return that someday.

I’m a Stefan and Elena fan. I love Damon as well and hope that Damon and Elena get together in Season 4. The reason? because Stefan deserves more. Stefan has loved Elena with everything he has, protected her, helped her friends,was willing to sacrifice his life in exchanged for her Aunt Jenna’s and respected her choices. He even let her go to figure out her feelings for his brother. And it hasn’t been enough. Sure he’s made mistakes, but Damon has too and still Elena loves Damon. Everything Damon has ever done, has been for himself or for his misguided love for Elena. I love the character of Damon and the chemistry that Damon has with Elena. But the truth is, Damon and human Elena were not the super couple because he could never be himself with her. He was always trying to please her and change for her. That’s not love. Stefan was always free and real with Elena and she with him. Stefan’s heart is pure and kind. I’m not forgetting his past but he is a bloodoholic! Damon doesn’t have that problem, and has no remorse when he kills Elena’s brother, hurts Bonnie, Elena’s best friend or bites Elena potentially turning her into a vampire even though he know’s that’s the last thing she wants. And all the delena fans think that’s love. No that’s lust. I take solace in at least human Elena chose Stefan in the end. Now that Elena is a vampire, let her be with Damon! Chemistry and lust is one thing, but only true love lasts forever and Stefan’s and Elena’s lasted until the day she died! True love is sometimes boring but it never disrespects, manipulates, hurts, or kills on purpose. Damon does all of those things. And if vampire Elena doesn’t see how unselfishly Stefan has loved her, good riddance! Stefan deserves another love then. Someone who see his goodness and his heart like human Elena did. Another human or even Katherine. At least Katherine had both of the Salvatore brothers and chose Stefan without any regrets or second thoughts! Maybe it is Damon’s turn. But at least Stefan had his epic love with Elena the human and it lasted until her death.

It isnt just physical attraction Elena feels for Damon it is also romantic feelings as well she never tried to deny it when Matt talked to her about her feelings for him she said no matter what Damon does whether good or bad she cant shake him off it is simular how Lucas fell in love with Payton in one tree hill. And Damon may be bad on the outside but is good on the inside and Stefan is good on the outside but bad on the inside. And Elena isnt trying to change Damon to be like Stefan she is trying to change Damon because she sees the good in him even when she was still Stefans girlfriend she still saw good in Damon and tried hard to bring it out so no Damon is not a replacement for Stefan Elena is in love with Damon sure she may not have planned it but that doesnt mean she isnt. She is just worried about what other people will think of her it is unfair how every person Stefan and Damon both loved at the same time choose Stefan as first choice which is unfair even when Damon was sweet and innocent he is second choice it is unfair.

This article just goes to show how typical women are in being attracted to the bad guy. If you look at Damon and Elena’s history, Elena has forgiven him for so many bad things that he has done, and is slowly trying to change him to become a good guy. Their kind of relationship has really high highs but also really low lows, it’s like a rollercoaster. On the flip side, Stefan and Damon is more of the constant and lasting love that just strengthens in time.

In the end, she still chose Stefan because women will always want to spend eternity with the good guy. So yeah, she is “ATTRACTED” to Damon, but attraction could easily die, especially when she cant trust him. She knows it will always be Stefan who accepts her and her decisions because he loves her unconditionally.

Pretty sure that Damon loves Elena unconditionally, just because he doesn’t agree with her 100% of the time doesn’t mean he doesn’t accept who she is. Elena does trust Damon. He’s done everything to EARN her forgiveness and trust.

And what did Stefan do the entire 3rd season? Give her roses and write her poems? He abused her emotionally over and over again, then he tried to drive her off a bridge! He has some serious issues. Damon may not be perfect, but he’s changed from being evil to being good because of love. He’s the “bad guy” because he says what everyone’s thinking but too afraid to say, and because unlike everyone else on the show, he disagrees with Elena.

All the 3rd season we saw a different side to Damon. He was there for Elena, he put himself in harms way for her, tried to do everything for her, and then he disagrees with her idiotic plans and she throws his feelings under the bus. She’s being horrible to Damon when he’s trying really hard to be the better man.

Stefan did NOTHING to redeem himself and deserve the forgiveness for all the evil he did. And FYI he killed Damon’s girlfriend episode 1, not under compulsion, and he never even said sorry to Damon.

If you think that women fall for the “bad guy” and say the only bad guy here is Damon, then you’re wrong, pretty sure that Matt Donovan is the only real “good guy” on the show.

I’ll take Damon any day over Stefan. At least Damon will tell me when i’m being an idiot and pull me out of sunken truck before I drown.

She should be with Damon! I agree with everything you wrote in this article. Its so obvious the chemistry between Stefan and Elena has fizzled out. Nothing in this season has made sense. The worst decision Elena ever made was to reject Damon. No one is rooting for him, everyone on the show ships Stefan, so of course the girl isn’t going to make the hard choice and go against all her friends, she’ll do the “right thing” and be with the guy who “was there for her in the beginning” and completely forget the one who’se been there all season supporting and caring for her. Yeah Elena, great choice. But then again I’m not surprised, Damon has become the show’s “punching bag”, it really knows how to kick him when he’s down. When 80% of the people vote for Damon I think the producers and writers need to wake up and give us Delena fans the romance we’ve been waiting for these past 3 years!!!

Exactly! Julie Plec said that the love triangle will have a big twist this season! I hope that it will be DELENA! Because honestly, Elena has to end with Damon, it will be right, and DIFFERENT. Stefan and Elena r just too damn charming, it’s like very,very boring watching them over 2 and a half. I’ts like teamdamon said,that it the same thing in all love vampire stories,it’s so cliche. Damon should be with Elena because who knows what would happen between them and that just makes the viewers…….more excited and wondering.It creates mystery between them all why not have a twist in this love triangle.
