The Brooklyn mother was found guilty for the horrific murder of her young child, who died covered in bruises and open wounds, and weighing only 19 lbs.
The jury only took one hour to convict Carlotta Brett-Pierce of beating, starving, and drugging her daughter, Marchella, who died in 2010.
Carlotta, who was convicted on May 10, remained emotionless when the jury decided on the guilty verdict and even showed attitude when the judge asked her if she understood the sentence, according to a New York Post report.
“I heard what you said,” said the 32-year-old mother.
Over the course of the four-week trial, prosecutor Jacqueline Kagan showed the jury graphic photos of the Marchella’s emaciated corpse and also played tapes of a jailhouse phone call in which Carlotta called her little girl, “that bitch.”
“We are satisfied with the verdict,” said the prosecutor after the verdict was announced, “We are gratified that Marchella got some justice.”
“Monster Mom” will be sentenced on June 7.
