'The Voice' Finale: Christina Aguilera & Adam Levine Fight Over '99 Problems'

Christina Aguilera Adam Levine Fight

Christina Aguilera was reportedly furious Adam Levine had Tony Lucca sing ’99 Problems’ because she thought he was referring to her as the girl who was the problem — and subsequently tensions ran HIGH on ‘The Voice’ finale May 7!

It’s a good thing this season of The Voice is almost over, because Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine were about to wring each other’s throats during the finale performances May 7.

During rehearsals for the show, Christina reportedly was upset Adam had Tony Lucca sing “99 Problems” because she thought the lyrics “99 problems, but a b**ch ain’t one” were in reference to her. She flipped out and then Adam reportedly called her the c-word. The fight was so nasty, producers supposedly weren’t sure how the show would go on…

…But it did, and we watched it play out live. After Tony’s flawless performance, Christina simply said, “I thought you sounded great.”

Tony Lucca and Christina Aguilera Butt Heads — Why Does Christina Hate Tony?

Adam turned to Christina and said, “We’re not referring to ‘girl’ problems. It’s a metaphor.” The cocky judge then took off his coat to reveal a “Team XTina” shirt, which was meant to make amends.

However, it didn’t appear Christina accepted Adam’s apology, because when he sang his duet with Tony later in the show, she was nowhere to be seen. Clearly, she was taking a stand against Adam and his contestant.

The best moment was when Ceelo Green revealed his shirt, which said “No problems”! He joked that he had “no drama” with his contestant, Juliet Simms.

In the battle of Christina versus Adam, on whose side are YOU?

There was only two things that stood out when Chris and Xtrina sang. And it wasn’t the singing. She demeans women just by the way she dresses. I can’t wait to see how her daughter dresses. By the way, my 30 votes weren’t used on Chris for that reason.

I believe Tony must have dumped Christina when they were Mousekateers. She is so rude to him.

I think the song that was directed to Christina was when Tony sang the Maroon Five song. Especially the chorus part (Is there anyone out there it’s getting harder and harder to breathe) because she wears her outfits to tight

Every single time Tony Lucca has performed she has made rude, obnoxious comments. Did anyone else see her when Tony Lucca thanked all 4 of the coaches? She was playing on her cell phone not even giving him the time of day…I don’t think this fight was between her and Adam, she has an issue with Tony Lucca and has since day one. It’s unprofessional and very caddy to have an adult woman, (who is not only a superstar but also a “role model” to younger girls) treat a contestant on a show the way she has all season. Especially when she should take a look in the mirror. Not only are her own song lyrics and music videos derogatory towards women but look at the way she dresses?! It’s just sad.

This show is about promoting new unique voices, it’s not about Christina Aguilera. I thought that Tony Lucca’s performance was very original and entertaining to watch!

And one more thing, I believe Tony has a son, not a daughter. And he didn’t even say the word. If you seriously have a problem with it then maybe you are taking it a little too personally. Perhaps she has a guilty conscience?

My husband and I have decided not to watch the show next year If Christina is still there or if she does not have a major attitude adjustment. Her comments have not been constructive and have to us, felt like direct and indirect unnecessary negative comments about Tony. Tony handled like a gentleman and thanked the judges while Christina so rudely twittered away. There nothing authentic about Christina, “NOTHING”. Christina is entitled to her option but grow up, girl. She was unprofessional and did not have composure on the show. Pathetic !

Oh I so totally agree. I can’t imagine sitting through another season of The Voice with Christina as a judge. Love Adam and Blake, and even Cee Lo has grown on me. But Christina is intolerable! INTOLERABLE! That she makes so much more $ than the other 3 is outrageous. Future contestants should stay away from her supposed “coaching.” And re demeaning women — look in the mirror girl. Look in the mirror!!!

Xtina always had something against Adam and Tony from day one! With Adam it started last season. She comment on their song being derogatory to women she should stop squeezing into a size 2 outfits that clearly don’t fit her! She’s a washed out, stuck up b-h! Her compliments are soooo fake!! She should stop dressing a cheap prostitute! Derogatory to women!!! Ha ha that’s funny!!!

The Christina haters are being pathetic and immature. First of all, Christina Aguilera was not nasty to Tony Lucca. She has given him praise many times. But the one time she gave him any criticism, people were outraged and started saying hateful things about her. Her words that night were: “Overall it was a good performance, but I thought it was a little one-dimensional.”

As a JUDGE, it is Christina Aguilera’s JOB to CRITIQUE the contestants. She is supposed to say what she does like about the performances and what she doesn’t like about the performances. The fact that she gave him criticism doesn’t mean she’s a ‘rude bi*ch’ or that she has a vendetta against him. She was just giving her honest opinion. She wasn’t nasty about it. The uptight pansies of America just took it the wrong way.

She has complimented him many times. The only other time she said anything negative about him was when she said she didn’t want The Voice to become ‘a celebrity sway’, meaning she didn’t want him or anyone else to win just because of their past celebrity status. And she’s right: The Voice should be about talent. The truth of the matter is that Tony Lucca has the least unique voice out of the remaining four contestants, and Jermain and Chris ARE more talented than him. Juliet isn’t more talented than Tony, but her voice is more unique than his. That’s the truth. If Christina was really the bi*ch you guys say she is, she would have said it exactly the way I just said it.

And like it or not, she had a valid point about the lyrics of the song. (I don’t know if Adam really called Christina the c-word, and I’m hoping he didn’t, because I REALLY LIKE Adam Levine and if he did say that, it would make me respect him a little less. I hate the use of the c-word, and it is disrespectful to women.) Tony Lucca’s wife and CHILD were in the audience. Would you want your 7-year-old to go around talking like that?

It depends what u mean by “talented.” Tony writes his own music and plays the guitar- in my book, that is talented. I don’t know if the song choice was meant as a dig to xtina, bit she definitely makes it worse when she awkardly exckaims to the world that Chris Mann is a “real man.” And yes, celebrity endorsements should not play a factor- but give equal opportunity- I don’t recall her saying anything to Jermainne about Alicia Keys. She is the one who looks bitter.

I’m with Christina. It’s Tony that can’t seem to let the bickering go. Every song choice is pointed negatively in her direction. Grow up, man. Christina shouldn’t have to sit there and basically be called a “blank” on national TV. That’s just not right.

I have noticed the animosity that Christina has had since Tony’s first performance. It was not the song that started it. Could this be a carryover from The Mickey Mouse Club. I couldn’t understand the words anyway, but I think they all did great. Oh and if you are concerned about women Christina, then start covering up your body a little more.

Christina has had the stink eye for Tony Lucca since the beginning of the series… Making snarky comments each time he sings. She’s obnoxious. She may have a beautiful voice, but she missed the day that etiquette was taught – as a role model and mentor, perhaps she should put her ta-ta’s back into her dress, and work on being more positive, as the other judges have clearly modeled for her this entire time. She IS the problem – with her nasty attitude!

Aguilera needs to put “them” back in her dress and stop being so angry at the world. She is a disgusting wash up who can’t get along with anyone.

Seriously, people 40 pounds lighter than her wouldn’t be caught dead in half the crap she wears. It’s a singing show not a Christina fashion ( or lack thereof) show.

All 4 finalists were great. I voted 30 times, once for each of the contestants who weren’t tied to “her”

So in the end, perhaps the *itch caused her guy to lose.

Christina wore that inappropriate dress for a song called ” The Prayer”…
so what does she know about respect!!!
Just another mean girl!
Now she has left herself wide open for criticism and may have hurt Chris Mann.

It shouldnt be an Adam vs. Christina thing. The song in general uses derogatory language that refers to a female. I dont care if it is a metaphor or not. If the “N” word was drop by Tony Lucca would we accept the excuse that it was a metaphor? I am disappointed that Tony himself thought this was a good song considering he has a wife and daughter. IS he teaching his song it is ok to talk like this and it is the other person who has the problem? Adam is like many other Americans anymore. It is the other persons problem if YOU say something offensive. Team Lucca/Adam……grow up.

On Adam side. Christina been rude to Tony since day one. Even if the song was about her or not, she deserved it. Chris can sing but I wouldnt buy his album. His voice makes me sleepy. She stole the spotlight from her contestant.

Xtina didn’t say say Tony did great after his performance, she said that she felt the song was derogatory to women then mentioned his wife and daughter in the audience, (his son & wife were shown). She ended by saying all in all it was great fun.

I find this story hard to believe. Others on set (Cee lo, Blake, Carson, and Christina Milian) all seem to get along quite well with Adam. In fact I’ve heard on many occasions that they love him. If he was in fact a terror on set as this article suggests, I would be inclined to think he’d be less liked. I think that Adam and Christina Aguilera are friends they are just overly competitive, and Christina more so than Adam. Also when Christina goes after Adam on the show he never really responds or argues back and he never really looks flustered or angry so I can’t see him engaging in name calling.

I am on Adam’s side. Week after week Christina constantly attacks Adam and Tony with her vicious and rude comments. If there is truly a problem going on behind the scenes she needs to deal with it off camera. Once the cameras are rolling it’s time to be professional. Christina really makes the show awkward and uncomfortable to watch.

I THINK THE SONG WAS APPROPRIATE, IF SHE TOOK OFFENSE THEN YOU KNOW THEY SAY IF IT BOTHERS YOU THEN IT MUST BE TRUE. I PERSONALLY CAN NOT STAND XTINA, THEY NEED TO FIND A DIFFERENT COACH TO REPLACE HER, MAYBE “PINK”.

And by the way, hooray for Adam and Tony Lucca. Great song, great performances by both. Christina stop bad mouthing Tony and you went to far by bringing his family into it. Your man Chris is a good guy but you belittle him when you bring him into your “trash”. He is too good for your team. Why he thinks of you the way he does is baffling. Go home and take care of your son!
