Why Selena Gomez Started Smoking

Oh no! Selena reveals she picked up the bad habit on Spring Break! Read on to find out why.

Selena Gomez admits in a new interview she’s lit up a cig.

But don’t worry Selenators, it was only for her role in Spring Breakers!

“I mean, I’d never smoked a cigarette before in my entire life. It was really funny—they had to show me how to do it,” Selena says in an interview with Interview magazine.

Well we guess you have to try everything once in your life!

Selena went on to explain how her character in Spring Breakers is completely different than what she’s played before.

“I was getting kind of repetitive in terms of the roles I was picking, and I really wanted to do something that was completely different,” she told the mag. “It was a mark thing for me—like, ‘This is what I want to be doing.’”

We can’t wait to see Selena play a crazy spring breaker!

I think it’s okay for Selena to have/want to smoke on the set for the movie. The girl just wants to have fun. It’s her choice and her life. She’s not getting hooked on it and even if she was, it’s her body and her choice. It doesn’t effect anyone else. She knows better than to continue smoking, shes just doing it for the movie. Let the chick live! <3

i dont think she would smoke a real cigarette shes smarter than that but its really freaking me out and i’ve been trying to figure this out all day my grandma said that it’s agenst some sort of law to use real cigarettes for movies

you idiots the legal drinking age in the us is 21 and like any other movie it’s not real booze if it’s bear or scotch or anything like that it’s just some freaking apple juice and yes who told you those cigarettes are real like everyone says they’re probably e cigarettes who knows maybe they were teaching her how to light it

How are Selena’s fans gonna see this movie? Isn’t it suppose to have an R rating.

Why didn’t the production crew use E-Cigarettes she is really young 19 or 20 years old what if she really liked smoking after trying it, If I were her team I would have never allowed it, I know she is an adult but seriously did they use real booze to make this movie.

No she didn’t drink real booze you idiot. That would be illegal since she is only 19. And I highly doubt she smoked a real cigarette. It’s probably a fake one.

I didn’t say she was drinking, what I meant was if the movie producer is teaching Selena how to smoke then why not teach her to drink as well. and as I suggested they should have used E-Cigarettes, if you read the article Selena says they had to teach her how to smoke.

She most likely didn’t mean really smoking. She probably meant they had to teach her how to use te cigarette. In these movies most of the time they use water vapor cigarettes.

Not only drinking real booze would be illegal, it would also hinder ability to act considerably.

As for cigarettes, I highly doubt they’d use e-cigarettes in movie – they’re visually quite a bit different with no ash or actual burning. More likely they would use nicotine-free ones.
