Maurice Sendak‘s books brought joy to individuals of all ages. The author died at his home in Danbury, CT., surrounded by family and friends.
The New York Times reports that the Brooklyn born author and self-taught illustrator died from complications from a recent stroke.
Maurice’s most famous book Where The Wild Things Are is one in which he wrote and illustrated himself and he was awared the Caldecott Medal in 1964.
This household name paved the way for many authors of our time and his amazing talents will live on in the imaginations of his readers for years to come.
