Selena has officially landed in Europe to take on her exciting — and edgy – new role!

This is definitely a bittersweet day for Selena Gomez. While we’re sure she’s pumped to be filming her new movie Getaway in Bulgaria — the Twitterverse was abuzz with her arrival May 5 — this also means she might have to spend six long weeks apart from boyfriend Justin Bieber.

Getaway is a remake of the classic 1972 flick of the same name, which starred Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw.

The official description for the movie reads:

Ethan Hawke plays Brent Magna, a burned out race car driver who is thrust into a do-or-die mission behind the wheel when his wife is kidnapped. With Brent’s only ally a young hacker (Selena), his one hope of saving his wife is to follow the orders of the mysterious voice (Jon Voight) who’s watching his every move through cameras mounted on the car Brent’s driving.

Getaway is in theaters on August 30.
