A huge fire began at Tyler Perry Studios on the night of May 1 — read on for all the details!
Tyler Perry‘s pride and joy was engulfed in flames. Firefighters responded to a four alarm fire at the filmmaker’s studio lot in Atlanta, Ga., late last night and one building on the 30-acre lot partially collapsed.
“Atlanta firefighters responded immediately to a fire which damaged the backlot façade of one of the buildings at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta,” his publicist said in a statement to HollywoodLife.com. “We are grateful that there were no injuries, and that 99 percent of the damage is limited to the backlot facade. Mr. Perry wishes to express his heartfelt thanks to the Atlanta fire department for their professionalism in their quick response and limiting the damage.”
Thankfully no injuries have been reported, but there’s been no word yet on what may have caused the fire.
Tyler perry opened the lot in October 2008 and since then many famous faces have been to visit. Most recently Kim Kardashian was in town for her role in The Marriage Counselor and Perry hosted a fundraiser for President Barack Obama at the studio in March.
Tylers latest film Madea’s Witness Protection, opens June 29.
