Jessica gained 50 pounds during her pregnancy and she’s going to have to do a lot of work to get back into her Daisy Dukes. A leading weight loss expert tells HollywoodLife.com how Jessica can drop the weight.
As a new mom, Jessica Simpson is primarily focused on caring for her new little bundle of joy, Maxwell Drew, but pretty soon the 31-year-old pop star is going to want her pre-baby body back!
Even though Jessica gained 50 pounds during her pregnancy, Alicia Hunter, weight loss expert and author of The Accidental Diet: From Fugly to Fox cautions Jess not to despair about her jiggles. “A woman’s body has a remarkable way of snapping back,” Alicia EXCLUSIVELY tells HollywoodLife.com. “Jessica can expect to drop 25 to 30 pounds fairly easily just due to the natural loss of fluid and blood volume that’s no longer needed to sustain the baby.”
While many women find that breastfeeding increases weight loss, Jessica needs to be mindful to eat a balanced diet if she chooses to nurse. “Nursing requires extra calories because the baby will take all of the nutrients and calories it needs,” Alicia explains. “Jessica should be sure to eat mini-meals every two hours that combine protein, such as chicken and fish, with healthy carbs like red quinoa or wild rice. She should also eat lots of water-laden fruits and veggies to help with milk production such as melon, berries and green leafy vegetables.”
Jessica can resume exercising as soon as she is given the green-light by her doctor. To avoid injury, Alicia suggests that Jessica should start with low-impact activities and encourages her to try fun exercises that she can do with her little one, like baby yoga or jogging with a stoller. “A baby stroller is surprisingly heavy and offers good resistance, which increases cardio and burns fat!”
Weight Watchers reportedly offered the blonde beauty a cool 3 million dollars to be their spokesperson and follow their weight-loss plan. The company’s previous spokesperson, Jennifer Hudson, dropped 80 pounds in 2010, and more importantly, has managed to keep the weight off.
Even though Jessica will have her hunky fiancé, Eric Johnson, by her side, there’s no denying that caring for a newborn is incredibly time-consuming. To make food preparation a snap, Jessica should prepare healthy meals ahead of time and keep cut up fruits and veggies easily accessible. “Preparation is key. Jessica should keep healthy platters in her fridge so that when she’s rushed and starving she can still make wise food choices,” Alicia reveals. “If Jessica eats wisely, exercises regularly and doesn’t get freaked out by her temporarily out-of-shape body, she could be back to her normal weight by the fall.”
