Jake himself, Brett Davern, tells HollywoodLife.com about the struggles of the show’s ‘heavier’ second season.
The season finale of MTV’s Awkward. resulted in a major victory for Team Jake (Brett Davern), as Jenna (Ashley Rickards) finally realized her true feelings for the golden-haired human puppy, but it sounds like Team Jakers are about to taste the agony of defeat when the show returns June 28. “Jake and Jenna are very much together when season two begins — but that goes south very quickly,” Brett tells HollywoodLife.com, suggesting that Matty (Beau Mirchoff) hasn’t given up on winning Jenna back.
And what about the “carefrontation” letter? The season finale ended with Jenna’s discovery that the letter — which suggested she could disappear and no one would care — was written using her mom’s stationary, and Brett says that’s going to be a major catalyst for drama in season two.
“There’s definitely going to be some heavier stuff than in season one,” Brett admits. “Jenna’s life is always going to be awkward and filled with struggles.”
To add to the insanity, Brett also says at least four new characters will enter Jenna’s world — and they could be potential love interests for anyone.
“I’m not going to say for who,” Brett teases. “It could be for me, it could be for Jenna or it could be for Matty. They’re bringing a ton of new people in, and it’s only going to make the show better.”
What’s your take on Brett’s scoop for season two? Were you hoping Jake and Jenna would be together forever, or are you glad that Matty’s still in the race? And do you think Jenna’s mom REALLY wrote that ‘carefrontation’ letter? Drop your thoughts and theories in the comments section below!
