William and Kate Wedding Highlights

Were you like all of us here at HollywoodLife.com up at 5 am and glued in front of a TV watching William and Kate’s romantic royal wedding a year ago today, April 29? Relive it now!

Prince William and Kate Middleton pulled off the perfect royal wedding in multiple ways. It was royally classy enough to please the Queen but romantically intimate enough to be a personally meaningful experience for the deeply in-love couple. And while 3 billion people around the globe watched William and Kate exchange their vows, somehow the royal couple managed to make their nuptials a truly family affair, that even honored William’s beloved late mother, Princess Diana.

Now, here are my Top 10 Royal Wedding Moments. See if you agree!

#1) The Wedding Dress: From the moment we glimpsed Kate getting into her limousine, it looked absolutely perfect. Designed by Alexander McQueen top designer Sarah Burton, with tons of input from Kate, it was a modern take on traditional bridal elegance with a lace neckline and sleeves, a fitted bodice and waist, and a full skirt with a slight bustle in the back. Kate did her own makeup, wore her hair loose and wore a flattering lace veil — simply perfection.

#2) Pippa’s Butt: Four words: It stole the show! Within minutes of Pippa Middleton entering Westminster Abbey, Twitter exploded as tens of thousands of wedding watchers tweeted their enthusiasm for the newly-revealed well-rounded Pippa Middleton butt. Thanks to her shapely figure highlighted in her slinky Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen bridesmaid gown, Pippa’s butt became an instant sensation.

#3) Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s Crazy Fascinators: Who even knew what a “fascinator” was before Prince William’s two cousins, Princesses Beatrice, 22, and Eugenie, 21, the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, walked into Westminster Abbey wearing — let’s just be honest — insane highflying Philip Treacy fascinators? Did Twitter go crazy? Yup. Not surprising when Princess Beatrice looked like she was wearing a pretzel on her head!

#4) The Super Romantic Vows: What heir to the British thrown has EVER whispered to his bride (a commoner no less) at the alter that she looked beautiful? William did. Then the two newlyweds blocked out the rest of the world, looked directly into each others’ eyes and said their vows — minus the “obey” for Kate. It was a heavenly moment for romantic hearts around the world.  And the pair remembered Princess Diana by playing her favorite hymn – Guide me O Great redeemer- during the ceremony. Tears were flowing!

#5) The Balcony Kiss: Kate and William did William’s parents, Diana and Charles, one kiss better. They kissed not once, but twice for the roaring crowd. And the only one who DIDN’T love it was the little bridesmaid, Grace Van Cutsem, 3, who covered her ears and scowled at the noise.

#6) The Aston Martin: Next to Pippa’s butt, William and Kate’s Aston Martin exit from the wedding lunch was the biggest and most fun surprise of the wedding day. Borrowed from Prince Charles and decorated with bows, hearts and a Just Wed license, William used the car to drive his bride from Buckingham Palace to Clarence House, where the couple was staying. How adorable was that!

#7) Kate & Pippa’s Evening Dresses: Just when you were still recovering from being blown away by Kate’s wedding and Pippa’s bridesmaid dresses, you got blown away all over again by their evening wedding reception gowns. Pippa looked smashing in a full-length emerald green Temperley gown while Kate glowed in a second ivory full-length satin gown by Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton. GORGEOUS!

#8) Prince William’s Emotional Post-Wedding Speech: William proved once again that he’s a thoroughly modern heir to the throne. Not only did he consider Kate, his best friend and partner, he actually called her “my rock” during his emotional speech at the couple’s evening reception. Double awww!

#9) The Morning After: This was Kate at her most down-to-earth. After a day of glamorous Alexander McQueen, she started her first morning of married life in a $90 polyester Zara dress, proving once again that Kate Middleton was just like us! Hooray!

#10) The Private Honeymoon: No showy media extravaganza honeymoon for these deeply in love newlyweds. No, William and Kate did what they personally really needed to do for the sake of their own relationship. They jetted off to a SUPER PRIVATE resort on the North Island in the Seychelles. They rented out the entire island to ensure the utmost privacy and just enjoyed their time together away from the public eye. It was exactly what the pair deserved after sharing their wedding with 3 billion people. It’s that commitment to their relationship and each other that’s let this lovey dovey royal duo sail through the first year of marriage.

Happy anniversary William and Kate, and here’s to many, many more!
