It’s Selena squared! The pop star does her namesake proud with a tribute song for the late Latin singer, Selena Quintanilla-Perez. Read on to find out what it has like for Selena Gomez to record with the original Selena!
Selena Gomez, 19, sadly never got to the chance to sing with Selena Quintanilla-Perez while the Latin-American singer was alive, but she is paying tribute to her with a brand new single.
“She did an amazing job,” Selena’s brother, A.B. Quintanilla, told E! on April 26. “She was named after my sister. That’s pretty awesome. Selena with Selena. We want to thank all the Selena Gomez fans that have actually, they’ve been really, really at it just spreading the word. Hard core fans.”
Selena re-recorded the late Selena’s 1994 hit “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” for Enamorada De Ti, a new tribute album honoring the late songstress.
“I was completely honored when they asked me to be on the tribute CD and when I went into the studio to record they actually had her vocals in the booth that she was in, so I felt like she was singing right next to me,” Selena told JustJared.com. “It gave me chills! It was incredible and it was a great experience and it was a great song.”
