In a new interview, Giuliana and Bill reveal what it was like to hear the shocking news that their surrogate is pregnant with their baby!
Giuliana Rancic and husband Bill Rancic appeared on The View on April 23 to talk about what it was like to finally hear they’re expecting.
“Oh my god, it’s just shocking,” Giuliana, 36, says. “It was very emotional.”
The cameras were there to capture the moment for an upcoming episode of the couple’s reality show, Giuliana & Bill. In a clip from the show, Giuliana immediately breaks down in tears when their fertility doctor and surrogate call to tell them their pregnancy test is “100 percent positive.”
The couple underwent multiple failed rounds of IVF treatments and a miscarriage before Giuliana discovered she had breast cancer in September 2011, after undergoing a routine mammogram as part of her fertility treatments. While it’s been an uphill battle, Giuliana says the “darkness” they went through saved her life.
“Had I not gone through IVF, had I not had this struggle, I never would have discovered I had breast cancer,” she told the ladies of The View. “Had I gotten pregnant naturally and easily, it would have actually accelerated the cancer.”
Giuliana had a double mastectomy to remove her cancer in December 2011. Thankfully, she says she’s now on new medication, and her health is great!
Now that the Rancics know they’ll become a family of three at the end of this summer, they say they have no regrets about sharing their darkest moments with the world.
“Especially with the news today, now more than ever I’m happy I went public because it shows there is a light at the end of the tunnel,” she says. “If you hang in there and stay positive, God will give you good things.”
Giuliana and Bill both admit that their rocky journey has made their marriage stronger and brought them closer.
When you say ‘In sickness and in health,’ you never think it’s going to be tested,” Bill, 40, says. “But you do what you need to do and when one of us is down, the other is there to pick us up.”

I’m so happy for Giuliana and Bill. I am going through the same thing unable to have a child. Month after month the failed attemtes. But Giuliana and Bill give me hope. This couple gives many people hope. My husband and I love to watch their show. By the way I think its a girl.
