'American Idol' Rigged? Colton Dixon Should NOT Have Been Eliminated

Colton Dixon was one of the favorites to win this season of ‘American Idol,’ so how the heck did he get voted off April 19?

Maybe all of this was in part my fault. After Elise Testone talked back to Jennifer Lopez on American Idol April 18, I was nervous she was going to irk America, so I spent my time saving her from elimination — totally assuming Colton Dixon would come out on top.

The 20-year-old Tennessee native had a strong night. Albeit, it wasn’t his best, but there were others (I’m lookin’ to you, Hollie Cavanagh) who struggled far more.

Colton has been consistently strong all season. He’s taken risks, played it safe when it counts and rocked his unique style and awesome hair.

Plus, he’s by far the strongest interviewer out of the top contestants this season. Every week I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with the singers on Tuesdays during their rehearsals. No one has had more poise, charisma or grace than Colton. He’s well-spoken, polite, introspective and kind — all the characteristics you’d want in a superstar.

I have no doubt Colton will go far with his music career, but I’m still bummed he wasn’t given more opportunity on Idol. At the end of the day, I don’t think this show is rigged, but I do question America’s voting abilities. What the heck happened this week?

Everytime I have voted after my second vote it confirms the person I have voted for when I voted for Colton at 10:05 it confirmed my vote after about 100 votes do your think this happened to others and did it affected his total votes. I even scrolled back on my phone and it confirmed this.

Maybe if Colton tried to play on everyones heart strings like Elise he would be on Idol still.. Elise should of been the one to leave not Colton, he rocked every performance..

it seems that everytime a constant gets cocky with the the judges he or she ends up staying and someone who is great goes home and that’s what elise did. she was cockey to jennifer on wednesday. i really wish idol would get new judges cause they never say anything to anyone anymore. i just hope colton has a good career after the tour ends

Elise should have been voted off because she is ALWAYS in the bottom three! Or Holly! She’s ALWAYS in the bottom three too! She was with Colton when Ryan was going to announce who was leaving! I hate Skylar because she didn’t seem to care and because she’s a stupid fricking country rocker. Go to hell Skylar, you idiot. Colton I miss you and whenever I think about you being eliminated I still can’t get it through my head. I always think “Oh yeah! The best singer got voted off…I don’t care for Idol anymore this season.” Maybe I won’t watch any future seasons.

Other than this week, Colton has given amazing perforances. The Piano Man, Everything and Love the Way You Lie touched me deeply. This kid has tremendous talent! He is a true artist, so creative and is a great musician and singer. I’ve been bored with the contestants the last few years, but Colton made me look forward to see how he was going to change a song up from week to week. I’ll probably skip the rest of the season until he’s performs again with the group in the final show. I didn’t think it was rigged until this week. I got a lot of busy signals or “all circuits are busy” when I voted for Colton. If not too many people where voting for him, why couldn’t I get through. I was able to get through the previous weeks when he got a lot of votes and was safe. I’m suspicious.

Everyone don’t watch Idol this week!!!!!!!!!! Don’t watch it or vote!!!!!!!!!! Spread the word!!!!!!! Colton’s elimination is suspicious… Was it fixed? I hope something happens that will bring him back… Love you Colton!

I honestly don’t care to watch Idol anymore this season. Everyone should not watch it anymore and the views will probably go down. They will think “They want Colton back.” Heck yeah we do! Then they’ll bring him back and he will probably choose the right songs and be a finalist or even win!

Colton was robbed…I think the judges negative comments the night before totally had something to do with it…there were at least 3 of them worse than them…I do hope we get to see more of Colton…I really don’t want to watch AI any more.

I’m not sure if I think it’s rigged or not, but there had to have been something weird going on for him to lose. There were far too many people, including myself, that were pulling for him to win. I guess alot of people did think he’d pull through anyways and voted for whomever they thought was really struggling that week, but still, Colton has a relatively large fan base that voted for him for the full two hours every week.

I cant vote from australia, but i love watching the fantastic talent on the show.im of the opinion the judges “decide “wholl win.., colton dixon was my pick to reach the finale with phillip.. elise and skyler are also great..all these four can entertain not just sing..hollie is lovely but not quite ready..the two singers jessica and joshua whom in my opinion the judges are trying to push down the voters throats are great singers but do not connect with me at all, they bore me “sorry “just my humble opinion..

I am so angry with the judges of American Idol!!!Because of the way they show favoritism over some of the contestants.
Colton Dixon should not have been voted off. I do not believe that he was in the bottom three. Colton was a favorite and the judges knew it. They are pushing and pushing for Joshua to win this thing. He gets a standing ovation every time, when others do just as well get nothing.The audience are the only one who should give an ovation, not the judges. i will not watch the show again because I truly believe it is fixed!!!

my last season to watch “IDOL” …do not trust results any longer…this kid had it all going on and was shocked that he was elimated….the judges suck and have obvious alternative motives for their opinions…”tone down religious overtones” ….. look at their histories…a drugger, a multi-relationship/marriage super star, and a “DOG” ego driven judge….DO NOT let these people affect your confidence or your dream…we love you and will support your career….

I really didn’t want to see Colton go but if you base it solely on wednesday performances, it’s an ok call. At mleast he had the guts to do something different even if it wasn’t successful-that is true creativity. Can’t wait to see what he does now. He reminds me of a cross between Johnny Reznik and Jared Leto. Like those two, he should be fronting a band that he can collaborate with. Good luck Colton!

I don’t know how the heck Colton was eliminated . This is insane. He is the best singer in there!!! Every show I go for Colton . He’s just amazing . I don’t understand what America was thinking . I am no longer watching American idol. Im sure he will go a long way and be a great singer. I look forward in being in one of his concerts! Colton Dixon all the way !

Colton had no idea who he was, he didn’t even want to be on the show, and he was a total poser. He may have interviewed well and has charisma, off the stage, but his performances simply were not genuine. He played to the camera, thought he was doing what everyone else thought he should be doing, and questioned why he never got a standing ovation from the judges. The answer: he wasn’t good enough and didn’t perform for or within himself.

Your comments regarding Elise and Holloe are true. They are both on borrowed time.

Regardless, next on my “vote off” list … Jessica. She may be a good vocalist and hit all of the notes, but she doesn’t know what she is singing and comes across as having no soul. Put her in a studio, but not on a stage.

Oh, and you think American Idol is not staged? Last week’s save fiasco was an obvious attempt by the judges, and maybe producers, to rescue Jessica, even though America had enough of her. She went from dead last to not even in the bottom three. That was a clear result of the judges actions.

Colton knew exactly who he was. If you think he doesn’t then you watched ONE episode – this week. Watch every thing leading up to it and, until Wednesday, he was spot on and destined to be awesome. He still will be awesome, but you’re a fool if you think he didn’t have an identity or know where he was going.

Colton knew who he was. My husband was a fan, I was not at first. He grew on me, finally I told my husband that this kid will be in the finale or even win the whole thing. He might not have the best voice, but he was a natural performer. He sang with soul, he also came across as a very nice kid. Very well spoken, not a fake. I will miss him, he brings excitement to the show. Phenomenal talent!

I’m seriously starting to wonder about American Idol being rigged, but that actually started LAST week, when the bottom 3 seemed like the top 3. And please….walking up on stage to save J Sanchez? letting her close the show? Give me a break. Jimmy Iovine just $ee$ her as a 16-yr-old meal ticket. Go ahead and skip to the last show already. Colton was a package, and it’s our loss that he’s gone.

I’m sorry, but I think American Idol was rigged this week. I’ve been reading a lot on the internet lately & saw how many viewings Colton has had compared with others, & they were many, so he had many fans. At any rate, Colton and Philip are are the best singers on Idol this season, in my opinion. I am still in shock & not sure I will watch Idol again next season.
