'American Idol' Results: Colton Dixon Lands In Bottom

Elise Testone, Colton Dixon and Hollie Cavanagh made up the shocking bottom three on ‘American Idol’ April 19. Are you surprised by who went home?

We are still sitting here in shock after tonight’s American Idol elimination. Even the bottom three, Colton Dixon, Hollie Cavanagh and Elise Testone, weren’t who we would have guessed to be facing elimination.

That said, after Elise talked back to Jennifer Lopez last night, we had our concerns about her going home. However, when Ryan Seacrest announced it was actually Colton who was getting the boot, our mouths dropped to the floor. He was supposed to win!

I am astounded that Colton was sent home. He was my favorite, Skylar being second choice. He sounded so much better than the other contestants. I can’t stand Jessica nor Elise. Everybody believes that since he dresses as a rocker, sang songs that weren’t “Christian-like”, and had one cocky comment, that he is a fake. He was being himself and there are Christian rock bands out there. His comment may have been trying to boost up his confidence, who would feel comfortable in a competition on television? I just think it was terrible that out of nowhere he gets in the bottom three and is sent home at the same time. He was a strong competitor and I am sure he is going to pursue his dream of singing in some way.

If you call that actual Talent then something is wrong with your ears. He can perform and play instruments but as far as vocal ability Colton cannot match up to people like Joshua, Skylar, Jessica, Holly and even Elise. A pretty face does not equal talent. His voice is nasally and he totally ruined September. I mean I heard Vitamin C and Sisqo do a killer duet of that song. Colton was not just bad it will go down in memory as the WORST version of a great song. Wake up people.

Come on, people. The show is more than likely rigged. What a coincidence that Colton Dixon, a fan favorite with actually talent, gets voted off the show shortly after he says that he didn’t care about what the judges had to say about him. Fixed much? I think so.

Yes, i thought he was supposed to win. But i could hardly recognize September the way he arranged/ sang it; almost have the same comment for The Bad Romance. He forgot he was being judged as a singer, not as a songwriter/ arranger. Feel bad- he was taken out for his poor judgment.

you all are nuts colton though a good singer sung songs that he would not sing on a cd the only songs people liked were like songs he would never even sell actually there all bad in so many ways and right in some ways i would rather watch the voice where the judges are grammy winners

Elise keeps getting mixed comments and results from the judges and voters and i think that’s why she keeps getting in the bottom three. She’s trying too hard to please other people and that’s hurting her. Despite all that, she is one of my favorites. Maybe she wont go all the way on Idol but I hope it doesn’t stop her from coming out with an album or something.

The best is Phil, hands down. He’s consistent, confident and just solid. VOTE FOR PHIL!

As for Colton…way too much drama. Crying, getting on his knees, his annoying sister… Glad he’s out. Although I thought Hollie would have left before him.

It’s something how everyone thinks its rigged when their favorite is voted off. Most people who watch this show know nothing about music or what sounds good. It’s all based on a personal preference.

I did not like colton because he was a fake- a fake Christian, rocker, nice guy, bad guy…. You can’t be all of those. He doesn’t know who he is. And he sings from his throat. His comment about not caring was so cocky, cause he thinks he’s better than he really is. I’m sure he’ll put out an album for all the people who like “rocker” guys with weird, gay clothes. He’s a fake. If you want to be a Christian, watch what you sing and how you act.

Joshua screams too much. I would never listen to his album. plus he has very little personality. Elise acts like a dude and has a particular style no one is really into. Phillips is a bar singer; he’s too harsh. Hollie- sweetheart, almost doesn’t count! Skyler is a typical country chick. They all kinda sound alike. Jessica is great. The judges incourage her to scream though. When she sings a pretty melody, they tell her she not giving it her all. Jimmy got it right. She sings songs too old for her, but he is the mentor. He should have given better advice. Americans don’t like jessica’s r and b songs. But she is the best.

Please reclaim about what u have said about Colton . Though he sings with his throat , he did good versions to a lot of songs, and that’s an idol needs.and also about Phillips’ he is not a bar singer, u are so mean. Phillips and Colton are the best!

I’m sorry. Jessica has the voice but not the personality to become an American Idol. Colton had the perfect combination to be a star and he will be. I don’t like the Christian thing, but he was one of the more talented contestant in the competition.

I personally don’t like his style, but he is not fake. He’s actually a very good looking kid, if he has a better hair and style. So if you dress weird, you can’t be a christian? Anyway, he’ll do well, he is gifted performer.

Wow, the kid, and yes, he is still at kid at age 20, comes off of a week where the judges got up in front of everyone of the contestants and basically told the audience to vote for Jessica because she was the “best voice in America”, then has a bad week with song choices and judges reviews, says something out of character and you call him a fake Christian? Give the kid a break. Just because he’s a Christian doesn’t mean he’s not human. Elise has had more bad attitude than anyone of those kids that are way younger than her.

Age ain’t nothing but a number for these loved-up A-Listers. My BF and I both think so! He is almost 10 years older than I. We met via ~~Ａgelessmeet .ＣOM~~ a nice place for younger women and older men, or older women and younger men, to interact with each other! Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends :)

Easy…easy, easy to understand why American Idol Colton was knocked off the show last night.
He claims to be a real Christian, talks boldly about God and wear’s a cross.
Then he turns around and sings a song from one of the dirtiest mouths in music [M&M]…
and then he sings a song from one of the most sexually immoral people in music [GaGa]
called Bad Romance where she is striped NAKED!

I totally agree – I was flawed by his song choice. You cannot come across as a serious Christian, and then perform such distasteful music and think you have a chance of staying in the race. YES – God will not be mocked. Colton is a good talented kid who made some bad choices, and bad choices cost.

EVERYTHING ELSE IS FIXED WHY NOT THIS TOO. SAVE A SCREAMER ONE WEEK AND THE NEXT WEEK LET A TRUE TALENT GO HOME. THIS IS JUST GOOD TV keeping it interesting keeping fans on the edge of thier seats. This is why I will only watch THE VOICE FROM NOW ON.

Jessica can sing, we love her but she must connect with her audience, they must be drawn to her emotionally. joshua can sing eish but he screams too much n its so annoying. phillip is consistant but hes just weird dont like him n Holly can sing but she lacks experience.

Colton should NOT have been sent home!!!!!! He is amazing unlike Elise who sounds like a mix of Amy wine house and a throat cancer patient.!!! I mean seriously??? It’s a no brainer. And to everyone that said that there happy that he got kicked off or that he deserved it and that ge is cocky are a bunch of brainless idiots. Colton is a star but whatever… Just my opinion and I will not be watching American idol for the rest of the season because that is total BS

i was not a big AI fan from the beginning than around season 7 I became a fan, couldn’t miss the show for anything ….. NOW! lol it’s becoming a day time soap opera, it’s a joke! I liked Colton and a few others but to tell the truth none of them this year really stands out to me and for any one of them to have a singing career they need a lot of work…. There is a few I think sould have got booted long ago and for sure before Colton did, but they all gotta go sometime cause at the end there’s only one left standing…. besides none of the males or females this year being anything to really brag about there’s the problems with the judges, Randy is Randy he hasn’t changed and makes the same comments as he always has, J Lo wow what can I say, she talks wayyyyyyy to much and at the end she really didn’t say much at all, it’s like she just wants all eyes on her and tries to make what she is saying sound good, she doesn’t want to give it to them straight she side steps so she doesn’t hurt anyone’s feelings, get on with your self J Lo you as the performer you know how it is out there if this kids can’t take it straight up now their going to get beat down real fast in the real world, now Steven wow I for one LOVE n RESPECT this man for all he has done, he is what you call a true great entertainer and I mean no disrespect as I say this but he doesn’t make a very good judge for this show, his comments 90% of the time are way off the wall and make little to no sence at all, here and there he gets one tho lol, he sits there looking like what the h_ll am I even doing here I don’t wanna be here and it’s diffinitly not his cup of tea…. AI needs at least 2 new judges and in my opinion 1 should be a pro but they should also thro in a plain joe or jane a real person who buys and listens to music, pull a seat number from the audiance each week and let them have their say or interveiw ppl and find someone who would be able to hold in the feelings and tell them like it is, the judges should also be stopped from standing ovations cause there were plenty of time it should not have happen and times it should have and never did, it pushes voters to vote for the ones the judges pamper, like Jessica, don’t get me wrong for the young girl she is she does ok but is it just me but it seems her voice isn’t ready for the big songs she tries to belt out and it makes it sound like she is screaming more than singing and the american ppl get tired of hearing it… Simon is and always will be missed from the show but the one thing he knew how to do was be honest even if it meant getting boo’ed or even pushed to his limits by ignorance but week after week he did his job and did it honestly, if the new soap opera AI continues on the track it’s on each year it going to loose rateings and each year the shows like X-Factor and many others popping up all the time are going to out rate AI by millions…. just my opinion and some may not agree with me but millions of millions will and do …. they tried the “listener” (a non-industry type) angle with ellen… didn’t really work out. she may have helped ratings (i don’t know, just saying maybe she did b/c people like her), but she wasn’t a good judge and it made the audience mad. i think the panel is okay. in general, i like them. however, the show REALLY misses a simon element. randy tries to be tough every now and then, but he just ain’t simon and i feel like nobody really takes him seriously. i like him okay, but he’s not a lead man. i don’t know who could replace simon- other than jimmy, and jimmy already has an important role that he can’t give up. i mean, i’m sure there is another critical person in the industry who can sit there and cut to the chase and not concern themselves with emotions/feelings/empathy, but i just don’t know who that is. it would help the show if they could find someone like that. but, i think they’d need to cut randy or steven and put the meanie in randy’s current seat which he isn’t really filling (figuratively, not literally)

As much as I love Jessica to win the american idol,she is going to go through whole lots of pins,6 hole niddle pins to win the american idol. now its top 6 here are my choices Elise should be eliminated next for the last 3 weeks she is in the bottom 3′s,Holly should follow,that leaves Joshua, Phillip,Jessica, and Skyler.

If Skyler continue to sing like she does the last 3 weeks she is a good candidate to the final, Joshua great performance all the way through,do have enough strength to be in the final. Jessica a 16 yrs old little girl do you have enough strength to win the american Idol? Phillip no doubt more mature singer much talented he will win the american Idol.

my personal favorite, however, is jessica- and joshua, if he toned down the screaming and showed a gentle restraint and tender emotion, he could be my guy, too. but i think the country vote is so strong based on last year’s 1 and 2, and skylar’s the only country contestant left so she doesn’t even have to share the vote like scotty and lauren had to… plus, she’s a great performer and picks perfect songs for her audience/fans. more than any other performer, she does that. you might not like it if you aren’t a country fan, but, there are A LOT of country fans that will vote simply for her boot stomping fist stomping ‘tude. i like it and her, just kind of bored, personally. in any case, i think she could very much be a dark horse kelly clarkson kind of winner if josh and jessica leave before her. i don’t think philip can beat her. his audience isn’t the voting type (too cool and/or stoned to vote), and the rest of us are kind of bored by him- i think.

I honestly can believe he is in the bottom 3 because he ABSOLUTELY destroyed that song! It was TERRIBLE! Im sorry Colton, but I wont be surprise if u go home. :(

Judges are being supportive of jessica cos apart from other contestants Jessica shows politeness and respects judges comments and shows professionalism.. Unlike other contestants behaved last night! Jessica should win this! She is truly an american idol!

SHE IS AMAZING(: I dont think they should have saved Jessica, she has no stage talent, and can control her voice very well! But she can sing very good anyways. i think jessica has more stage presence than hollie, elise, and philip- hands down. i also think she has as much presence as joshua, but i don’t think anyone owns the stage the way that skylar does. her country fans are eating that stomping and pumping up. but even when she went quiet and intimate with wind beneath my wings, you really felt her presence. to me, she does have star quality even if her voice isn’t necessarily what jessica and hollie (or elise) have. you don’t have to have that great of a voice to do the music skylar will do- i’m not saying that country singers don’t have great voices, i’m just saying, you don’t NEED it.

I agree. Jessica, without any doubt is one of the best talented girl in America. She has an amazing voice, she can dance and engage the audience like a professional, she has good taste in all what she wears and above all, she is polite, respectful and hard worker. She is the whole package and good role model for young people.

i love jessica, too. she is my favorite to win, tho i’m not sure if she can b/c of the fickle fans. that said, she often sounds really bad in this tacky campy group songs that they do! they seem to mess up her mic (not turning it on, etc.), and maybe there are other things that throw it off… or, they don’t cater to her voice or want to seen as favoring her so they don’t tailor the performances to highlight her… but, she always sounds awful to me in those group things. she’s definitely a solo act!

asian really??? lol I thought Sanchez was spainish or something like that, but I wouldn’t say she is a better singer than evry1, she does very well but she also takes on songs 2 big 4 her and she is forced 2 scream it out instead of singing it which 2 me is not a better singer, and I truely no matter if she is asian, spanish whatever she may be it has nothing 2 do what RACISM, ppl just can’t leave that word out of anything now days can they lol

thank you! she’s AMERICAN! there have been a bunch of people throwing around the asian race card thing- i know her heritage is 1/2 filipino, and 1/2 latin, but i don’t think that the people who care about that thing matter in the voting for this competition! frankly, the only person that i wondered if they’d be discriminated against based on heritage is HOLLY b/c of her accent. she doesn’t seem american… tho i guess she is! and i love her (tho she’s not my favorite to win)! just making the point that i thought hollie would be the one discriminated against by voters, not jessica. please put the race card away.

Jessica is an American first and foremost. Her mom is of an asian decent from the Philippines and her dad is mexican. Now get it right folks. Jessica is a natural born american. People like you makes this somewhat a racial thing when it is not at all.

I shocked to see that Colten got the boot. Not right. Jessica should have gone home. And why are the judges so supportive of Jessica & so hard on Elise. Whether Elise is good enough, but whow – they sure get down on her. I think Skylar should take it all in the end.

The biggest turnout at a concert would be skylar. “GO COUNTRY”!! I promise if u did the research , country concerts sell more tickets than any other genre !! So cut out the nonsense and just send em all home, Skyar has it in the bag!!

I am not surprised. What happened to Colton this week is what happened to Jessica last week: people voted to ensure the safety of those considered ‘on the bubble’ (Elise, Hollie, even Jessica and Joshua since they were in the bottom three last week).

Add to that, he had a bad night. And between Colton and Phillip, Phillip has the smile and the sex appeal, and arguably the talent as well.
