The Voice Eliminations 2012

Blake & Christina had to make another round of cuts from their teams April 17 on ‘The Voice’ to decide who will go on to the semifinals.

The Voice officially jumped on the British boy band band wagon by kicking off the April 17 episode with a performance by The Wanted. After what I thought was kind of a pointless performance, the cuts began. From Christina Aguilera‘s team, America decided that Chris Mann was the best remaining option, leaving Ashley De La Rosa and Lindsey Pavao to battle it out and at the mercy of Christina.

Ashley went first, singing Lady Gaga‘s “You and I,” which I realized sounded so much better on American Idol when Elise Testone sang it. Adam Levine didn’t think it was that great, either. Lindsey sang “Please Don’t Go” by Mike Posner, which definitely showcased her as the better singer. When it came down to deciding, Christina saved Lindsey, sending her to the semifinals.

Over on Blake Shelton‘s team, the viewers saved Jermaine Paul, leaving Raelynn and Erin Willet to compete for the remaining spot.

Erin went first, singing “Proud Mary,” which was definitely way better than her previous performance. Raelynn stuck to her country roots, as well her youthful personality, singing “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry.

The closing credits began rolling on the screen and Blake still had not saved a contestant. When pressured by Carson Daly, he blurted Erin.

Um… What?

First Jesse Campbell and now Raelynn! I thought Raelynn did a way better job with her performance last night and in the overall competition. Blake seriously pulled a Christina on this one.

On a more positive note, Justin Bieber showed up during the show for the world premiere of an exclusive clip from his video for “Boyfriend.” The clip showed Justin caressing a female, playing a guitar and being groped by several female hands. He also announced that the full album, Believe, would be released June 19th. That was definitely my favorite part of the night.

Next week, Team Adam and Team Cee Lo Green will compete for spots in the semifinals.

Do you think Ashley and Raelynn were the right singers to go? Vote below, then hit up the comments section with your thoughts on the episode!

i definitely thought that raelynn deserved to go home. Erin and jermaine are more experienced than she is and she has many more opportunities to make it in the country pop business that she specializes in. While Ashely’s performance wasn’t stellar, I though she should’ve been save simply because she is better than Lindsey overall. Lindsey does not have an amazing voice and she isn’t ety versatile; a trait the Christina says she values. I really hope Lindsey doesn’t win because there are much better singers on the show.

First of all. The only people who don’t like RaeLynn are obviously people who don’t have an appreciation for country music. RaeLynn should’ve been saved for sure. Her performance was outstanding compared to Erin’s. I don’t know what Blake was thinking. But, I know for a fact that the country music community will be warm and welcoming with open arms to this little country cutie. To all the haters, you haven’t seen the end of her yet!

You must be they aren’t a fan of “country music,” which I am not. Pop country =/= country. Speaking of which, RaeLynn sings with too much fake country twang in her voice that I can only listen to the first 30 sec. of her song before I have to fast forward. :c

Blake made the best decision. Raelyn was too young and inexperienced. Used too much twang inflection in her song and it ruined the song/performance. You could also see that she expected to stay because she sang country. Erin is definitely the most versatile of the two
