A New York mom accidentally set her house on fire, killing her children. Tragic!
Bobbie Kugler of Rochester, N.Y., admitted to accidentally setting her two-story, wood-framed house on fire, which killed four of her five sleeping children — Gage Reavery, 14, Greg Kugler, 13, Kandee Kugler, 12, and six-year-old Kaiden Kugler. She managed to rescue her two-year old son, Tyson Jackson.
The 31-year-old mother told police she set pictures on fire before throwing then onto clothes, The Daily Mail reports. Once the fire began, it spread quickly, and by the time firemen arrived at the scene, they were unable to get to the innocent children.
“This fire is a result of human intervention,” says Fire Chief John Caufield. “This was not an accidental fire.”
Bobbie was arrested April 13 and charged with fourth-degree arson and four counts of second-degree manslaughter. She plead not guilty April 14, but will reappear in court.
People were seen moving on the second floor, but within minutes, flames were shooting from the windows, fire officials say.
“The men and women of the Rochester Fire Department saved the life of a mother and her young toddler who were downstairs, then tried repeatedly to save the other four children upstairs,” Rochester Mayor Thomas Richards addresses in a statement sent to the Democrat and Chronicle.
“They risked their lives in the attempt and had to be ordered back when the fire flashed and engulfed the house,” the Mayor adds.
This is devastating, but take this sad story as a warning to use caution when dealing with fire!
