Despite only sharing the news of their nuptials on April 13, a source says the couple is madly in love and made the decision to tie the knot over the holidays!
The world is buzzing about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s engagement, but a new report is claiming the notoriously private couple got engaged in December and have been keeping mum about their plans until now!
“Brad had the ring designed last year and made sure it was ready by Christmas because he wanted a romantic Christmas proposal — and he got it,” a close friend of the groom’s tells the new issue of Life & Style.
Why, then, did the couple of six years wait so long to break the news?
“They didn’t announce their engagement sooner because Angie focused so much on promoting her directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey,” the source reveals.
“[Angelina] was very busy with the movie and her Oscar campaign,” the insider adds. “She also worried that the engagement would take over press on her film and detract from that. There was some negative press on Blood and Honey that bothered her a lot, and she didn’t feel the timing was right. So they waited.”
After Angie, 36, debuted her sparkling rock — estimated at a staggering $1 million — at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, word of a possible engagement spread like wildfire.
Famed jewelry designer Robert Procop confirmed the news on April 13, saying he and Brad, 48, collaborated over the span of a year to craft the perfect diamond for his gorgeous bride-to-be.
“Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a yearlong collaboration with Robert,” a statement from the jeweller’s team reads.
