Zac Efron: Admits I Was In Love With Vanessa Hudgens

Zac admits in a new interview that he and Vanessa were truly in love — does this mean he will try and win her back?

Is Zac Efron heartbroken over Vanessa Hudgens? Zac, 24, stars in the upcoming romantic film The Lucky One, and he tells People that he and Vanessa were the real deal — are you surprised at how open he is about it?

“We were in love,” Zac says.

Since his relationship with Vanessa, he’s been linked to Lily Collins and more recently, Rumer Willis.

“You have to have fun with the rumors,” he says about his love life rumors. “That one [Rumer] I couldn’t laugh off. It wasn’t funny.”

Even though Vanessa is in a serious relationship with Austin Butler, do you think they will get back together?

Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens was a beautiful couple but I think regrets that he broke up with her but I just think they should get back cause they a CUTE couple I was very shocked they broke up

I LOVED them as a couple and I think they will get back together and possibly marry someday. They really seemed like soul mates. Luckily, their break up was amicable and no third parties were involved. Vanessa did NOT cheat on Zac, she wouldn’t do that. They have mutual love and respect for each other and that was very apparent to the public. They just grew up and grew apart and wanted to experience singledom/dating as adults. Also both Zac and Vanessa confirmed it became too difficult to maintain the relationship because of the focus on their careers and distance issues.

Mind you they were together for five years. That’s really long considering that Vanessa was 16 and Zac was 17 when they started dating. They were very mature and private about their relationship and treated it as something sacred. I love them as individuals and as actors and I wish them all the best in their personal lives. What is meant to happen will happen. (Zanessa forever?)

I saw a scan of the People issue he’s in. The quote’s definitely legit. ;) And though it’s not necessarily saying he’s STILL in love with her, I think the way he still talks about her says a lot. So as long as one of them seems to be holding on, I will be too!

I heard that he cheated on her and that’s why they broke up!!! Because Vanessa dumped him after she heard. Is this true? Someone in Hollywood has to know! But I was so obsessed with these two and wow, broke my heart to find out they split ways. If Zac is pining for V, that would make me so happy! Because all this time I thought he was a cheating dog, lol. But, obviously I don’t know anything for sure.

You mean the strip club he went to with Corbin and CALLED HER before going? Guys go to strip clubs, in relationships or not, doesn’t mean anything else went on. They BOTH went to a few TOGETHER when they were filming in Vancouver.

There was honestly no third party. Did he hook up in NOLA before the split was ANNOUNCED but had already HAPPENED, probably, but there wasn’t a third party. Honestly, I can’t say how I know (I know that seems so lame but it’s true), there wasn’t one because if there was it would have made things easier on them but there wasn’t. No one cheated.

You never really get over your first love especially when it has been a long relationship. But sadly people change and move on so its never going to be the same second time around. Many people try it but it rarely works out. We are all such different people at 17 when we are idealistic and really believe in true love. Much as I love Zac I dont think he would be good boyfriend material at this stage when he is focused on his career, filming and travelling all the time.

So where is this People interview HL is quoting? Has anyone seen it? BTW, I’d hate to be the girl who does “replace” Vanessa, even temporarily. She’ll need guts to get through the “she’s using him” for publicity. Look how Rumer Willis was bashed. Here are some females who have “used Zac” and look where they are now. It didn’t help their careers:
1. Nikki Blonsky – used Zac at every opportunity to bring attention to herself. Where is she now? Working in a hair salon. Or was it a shoe store?
2. Teresa Palmer – “hooked up with Zac” for one night to try and get a step up in Hollywood, and promote her movie that bombed. Where is she now? I have no idea.
3. Rumer Willis – not sure if she used him or he used her (for s-e-x). Where is she now? Hooking up with any guy who’ll have her in bars and taking them home. No career.
4. Ashley Tisdale – constantly seeks publicity through Zac, letting everyone know Zac is her “brother” her BFF, tweeting pix of them plastered together, saying she’ll never date him, blah, blah, blah. Even the highly publicized romp on the beach where she’s humping his neck and he’s kissing hers didn’t help her career. Where is she today? Stuck in TV land forever. Still doing the voice in a Disney cartoon.

Can you please not use Q’s where G’s should be? It makes you look incredibly stupid. In fact, your entire comment was full of mistakes, but I digress. If Vanessa was using Austin to make Zac jealous or mad even, she would have dumped him a long time ago after getting little to no rise out of him. As much as many of us loved Zac and Vanessa together, we can’t expect them to just sit around and wait to cross paths again. Having said that, yes, I do think that they’ll always have feelings for each other. You cannot be with someone for five years and come out of it with the switch turned off.

Honestly, I think he still loves her. He’s probably gonna wait till she’s single again to try to make a move on her.

I agree. I think it was Vanessa who broke up with Zac.

She seemed liked she needed more time with him, and more of his attention but he couldn’t give her that. He wanted to focus on his career. I think he really tried to make time though like how he went to visit her in Hawaii before their break up. Also, he didn’t want to get married before he was 40, and she wanted to be a mom by 30. Differences are often deal breakers!

I love Zanessa, and I think they really loved each other once upon a time. I saw it in their eyes, and the way they looked at each each other.

However, I think Vanessa has moved on. She might just marry Austin Butler if they last a few more years. What is she 23 or 24.

As for Zac, I think he gave up too easily. If you really love someone you should fight for them. Zac obviously did not do that with Vanessa. Which is sad because maybe that’s what Vanessa wanted him to do. To fight & want her to stay. T_T

Would love to see them back together, but I think Zac brock up with Vanessa he did not know how good he had it with her until it was to late and by that time she had moved on I think Vanessa got her heart brocken and Josh was her rebound and now she has fallen in love with Austin they seem to be very simular personalities and he has the time for her which Zac did not

yes,i believe he might not be this 100 percent cannot live without you love thing anymore but still respective and ”loving” her in a way, for the time they shared and for being his teenage mate.
yes, i also believe she was the one who wanted to break up ,,more” than he wanted, for reasons such as pushing her own career and not only be his gf (and baby v succeeded <3)

Honestly, my gut instinct tells me that he still loves her or at least misses her. Sometimes when the dust settles, it sinks in that the other person is really gone out of your life and is never coming back. Of course, you never know he could be perfectly good to go. I do think she has moved on and even if it doesn’t work out with the latest, I don’t see her going back anyway or really open to rekindling anything unfortunately.

I agree i think that zac is still in love with her because straight after they broke up she started dating josh and now austin.. You should at least give yourself time to adjust.. I mean they had been together 5 years! Thats more than many other hollywood couples.

However when i look back at pictures zac often looked miserable in pictures.. She would always be the one smiling and he would always have a serious look on his face. She was much more affectionate that he was.

Anways i just hope they realise that what they had was special and they are meant for each other… What they cant see, their millions of supporters and fans can- that they belong together. *starts playing taylor swifts you belong with me in the background lol*

I agree with what you said completely! I don’t doubt that he loved/loves her, but always in the pictures, he’s always looking so unhappy and serious. Of course, you’d catch him and her smiling at each other in other pictures that counter that fact, but for the most part, he doesn’t really smile.
I’m an honest Vanessa fan, but I don’t think that it was right of her to just jump into relationships after another like that… it makes her look bad. Although, Josh and Vanessa, I don’t think, were official. Maybe just casually dating. & Austin, the only reason why he had a chance was because of Ashley, honestly. Not that I’m bashing Ashley, but wasn’t she keen and persistent on the fact of Zac and Vanessa rekindling; after all, she, like many of their other hsm costars, said that they were Zac & Vanessa, chemistry galore. LOL
Like I said before, I wholeheartedly love Zanessa and I wish they will get back together, but it’s already been almost 2 years… & she’s been with Austin for over 6 months… sooooo, :/ we’ll see what happens.
& I don’t know what it is… but have you noticed that Vanessa & Zac’s tattoos are related in a way? I think he only looked miserable in pics because he has a more serious personality and HATES the paparazzi. Vanessa hates them too but she’s a little more comfortable and she naturally has a bubbly personality. He obviously was happy with her or they wouldn’t have dated for so long at such a young age. But it is easy to take your partner for granted. You never know how important someone is to you sometimes until you lose that person. Maybe Zac is feeling nostalgic?

She broke up with Zac in 2010 and now it’s 2012 so she’s had enough adjusting time. It’s good she’s moved on and isn’t still sulking over an ex. Austin makes a good “Mr. Right Now” and she seems really happy with him. What Zac and Vanessa had was very special though so I hope they get back together some day!

Even after all of this time I haven’t been able to get over their split, even though I would happily take Zac for myself. ;) I can’t help but wonder if the reason I haven’t officially moved on is because something is telling me to stick around. I agree that there has always been something between these two and for that reason I think that what’s going on right now might just be a chapter in their story. ugh. I’m always going to be crazy about these two as a couple. I’ll never forget when I heard they broke up. I remember just turning off my computer and feeling terrible for days. I’m not like this with any other couple or actor or whatever, but there is jusst something about this couple. They are always going to have a hold on me. I agree, I’m not as obsessed with any other couple except for them. When I finally started to let go, or in this case, stop reading about them as much, such as going on fansites and stuff… I find myself, weeks later, reading up on them again. To be honest, I think we’re so hung up on them because everytime we look at them, we see the people we’ve matured with and grew up with- Troy and Gabriella. To our lovesick Disney minds, we’ll FOREVER look at them as Troy and Gabriella, the couple who was the definition of perfect and ideal, and that’s, in my opinion, what makes us so clingy to their relationship. Honestly, I have a feeling that Vanessa broke up with him; why? I’m not really sure. Maybe she wanted to break free and be her own person, rather than the girl in the background and to be known as “Zac Efron’s Girlfriend” After the break up- even up until now, it seems as though Zac hasn’t been as happy and he can get any girl he wants, but yet, he’s still single!? I’m sure he’s still in love with her.
Vanessa’s PDA with Austin really makes me sick… she never used to be like that with Zac, and that’s what I admired most. They didn’t have to show off to the world their “love”, because they were so private about it, that’s what made it more special. All in all, I hope that they do get back together cuz they have such amazing chemistry that I really cannot see in any other couple. If they don’t though, at least they don’t have to live with the regret of not taking a chance on love with each other, right? (:

She never showed off her relationship with Zac because it was the first time either of them had been in love or been in a serious relationship. They stated in People several years ago that they kept it secret because they didn’t want promotion for HSM, the media, and the public to interfere with it. Vanessa can be public with Austin because there’s nothing to threaten her relationship with him. Plus they’re in the “honeymoon” stage so of course they’ll be all over each other. Zac and Vanessa were probably the same way we just never saw it because they kept it secret for over a year. I hope she and Zac do get back together though; they were perfect.

I still think that Zac still in love with Vanessa.She was his first true love.He hasn’t been in another relationship since Z & V broke up.They been together for five years.They have something very special together.But Vanessa’s new relationship with Austin it’s not real love to her.V had to realize that she still cares and loves Zac.I don’t know which one of them say that they need to break up.They both had know that they still in love with each other and make them happy.Zac & Vanessa are truly soulmates and I know that true love will find a way to them back together.
