An insider close to the Dallas Mavericks gives HollywoodLife.com an inside look at the drama between Lamar Odom and the team!
Lamar Odom announced today he is leaving the Dallas Mavericks and will not be playing the rest of the season. However, a source close to the NBA team tells us the decision was mostly made by the Mavericks, not the other way around.
“I think the decision came from the Mavs — they are just so frustrated with Lamar,” the insider says. “He’s been awful this season and often times doesn’t even try.”
The decision to end Lamar’s time with the Mavericks wasn’t shocking to those close to the team, our source says. In fact, it was almost expected after his last game against Memphis last Saturday.
“Coach and Dirk refused to answer any questions about Lamar after that game,” the insider remembers. “He only played four minutes and didn’t score.”
Lamar, 32, has been going through a lot of emotional issues outside of his basketball game, which may have led to his poor focus. However, his teammates and bosses felt like they were supportive of him.
“Most of the players and coaches seem pretty pissed off right now,” our source says. “They showed a ton of patience throughout the season. Plus, it’s been a distraction to the players since they ALWAYS have to answer questions about him.”
What do you think about Lamar’s basketball drama? Were the Mavs wrong to not give him more of a shot? Sound off below.
