While mixing prints is popular this season, did Gwen pull off the look or did she seem mismatched? Read my tips if you want to mix prints & VOTE!
When I see a stylish star mix prints I’m often impressed with the way they put themselves together. The trend isn’t easy, and if it isn’t done the right way it could look sloppy, not chic! The most recent star to step out working the trend was Gwen Stefani. The multi-tasking mom celebrated Easter in LA, wearing striped pants with a houndstooth jacket.
While it looks like Gwen probably just threw the jacket on to protect against a spring chill, the patterns seemed to work well together — however, it was the fit of the pants that left me let down with her get-up. The way they gathered in the crotch was just sloppy.
Gwen managed to really work this look — but given her killer confidence and her unique sense of style I’m not surprised! However, I think mixing patterns works better when there’s more of a contrast. If you want to try the trend, I think a basic way to start off is by pairing florals with stripes. If you have a striped tee in your closet, pair it with a floral scarf or blazer. Once you get more comfortable with mixing, you can start experimenting with separates for a fun, chic look!
What do you think? Will you try to mix prints this spring? Did you like Gwen’s Easter outfit?
