Heidi makes the split with Seal permanent — we hope they will be civil for the sake of their kids.

Heidi Klum has officially filed divorce papers from her husband Seal.

Heidi, 38, filed the papers divorcing Seal, 49, in L.A. County Superior Court, TMZ reports. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for the split.

Heidi has requested joint legal custody of their kids, asking for primary physical custody and visitation rights for Seal.

Heidi and Seal wed on May 10, 2005 and have three biological kids together: Henry Günther, 6, Johan Riley, 5, and Lou, 2. Additionally, Seal adopted one of Heidi’s children, 7-year-old Leni, from her previous relationship with Flavio Briatore.

Heidi has also requested that her legal name be changed back to Klum, even though she has always retained it in her modeling career.

She also requested that both parties pay their legal fees separately and that no spousal support will granted. This should hold up as they signed a post-nup which kept their assets separate. There will also be no community property to split up.
