The new contract will make David the longest-running late-night TV show host in history!

Move over Johnny Carson! By signing a new contract, ensuring his Late Show hosting gig through 2014, David Letterman has positioned himself to become the longest-running late-night host ever. When his contract is up, David will have hosted late-night TV for 32 years, versus Johnny who racked up 30 years in his own career.

In a statement, CBS President of Entertainment Nina Tassler calls David “a late night legend with an iconic show.”

Though no salary has been announced, New York’s Daily News is predicting it could be more than $40 million a year!

Do YOU think he deserves to make that much, HollywoodLifers? Sounds pretty steep to us!
