Watch out, Robin Roberts! Katie Couric says she’ll be ‘keeping your seat warm’ at GMA while you’re on vacation!
Katie helped make the Today show the No.1 morning news show during her 15 years as co-anchor with Matt Lauer, and now she’s BAAACK — at arch-rival GMA.
Katie Couric is set to guest host Good Morning America opposite George Stephanopoulos all next week, starting April 2. We can’t wait to see her back on morning news!
Katie will be filling in for anchor Robin Roberts, who will be on vacation.
“I’ll keep your seat warm,” she said to Roberts in a segment that aired March 30 on GMA.
And she sure did look comfortable behind that desk — until she called co-host George Stephanopoulos “Matt” instead of “George.”
Katie’s got the gig because ABC will be home for her new syndicated afternoon talk show, launching in September.
“I’ve known Katie for 14 years, and even with all of her success, I’m confident that her best days, biggest scoops and most powerful journalism lie directly ahead,” ABC News President Ben Sherwood said in welcoming Katie to the network.
Today has been the No. 1 morning show every week since December 1995, but GMA has recently been rising in the ratings. Could Katie help the show take over the top spot?
We already told you she’s set to fill the void Oprah left in afternoon TV, but could this mark her return to a.m. news? That’s where she shines!
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Will you tune in to see Katie on “Good Morning America” next week?
