Even though Tiger Woods kept a low profile during his widely reported cheating scandal, the ex-coach of the golf pro claims that Tiger was completely consumed with reading every word written about him in the media.
Tiger Woods’ former golf coach, Hank Haney, reveals his protégé’s obsession with scouring the internet to read media reports about his infidelities and gauging readers’ responses to them in a new tell-all book entitled The Big Miss: My Years Coaching Tiger Woods.
According to The Daily Mail, Henry wrote, “Rather than trying to ignore what was being written and said about him, Tiger was taking it in. While we were in Augusta driving back and forth to the course, Tiger sat in the front passenger seat while I sat in the back, and I could see as he surfed the web on his phone that he was searching for stories about himself on gossip sites.”
Tiger, always the overachiever, even read the scathing comments left by readers. “Many of them vicious cheap shots,” Henry noted. “I was thinking there was no way that could be helping his frame of mind.”
The pro-athlete took a hiatus from golf after he was exposed for having relationships with more than 15 women, including Rachel Uchitel, while he was married to Elin Nordegren. He returned to the game with a vengeance last Sunday by winning his first PGA tournament at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
