After an unprecedented five standing ovations last night, it was hard to say goodbye to any of the top nine performers on ‘American Idol’ March 29!
It was anyone’s guess who would be going home tonight on American Idol, and even though he had a flawless performance, I was pretty sure it was going to be Deandre Brackensick. But boy, was I wrong…he wasn’t even in the bottom three!
Instead, our bottom three were BFFs — Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine — and the charming Heejun Han. Sadly, I think what was perceived as Heejun’s bad attitude last week when he didn’t perform well was his kiss of death.
Despite a strong performance of Donny Hathaway‘s “A Song for You” last night, Heejun was sent packing. I’ve said this before, but it’s become increasingly difficult to critique these performers after I’ve gotten to know them personally week in and week out. Did I think Heejun would win the whole competition? No, not really. However, I’m still sad to see him go.
After all, what is Phillip Phillips going to do without his best friend?
What did you think of tonight’s elimination? Who is your favorite right now to win? Sound off below!

kirstin, i wanted to show a comment of appreciation for your precise wording re heejun— “what was perceived as bad attitude.” i’m guessing that you didn’t see it as a bad attitude, nor did i. he was just trying to show another side b/c he had been doing a lot of ballads— but, b/c the guy has a good sense of humor off-stage, people jumped to conclusions and stereotyped him as not taking anything serious. very unfair, and i’m sure made some people mad at him… that said, i can’t say it necessarily effected his voters. the people that loved him weren’t offended like steven and wouldn’t have been swayed not to vote for him. he may just have been cut b/c he didn’t have the fan base of the other big talents. regardless, i don’t think he ever had a bad attitude- he was just trying to show “fun”. i’ll miss him.
