'Idol' Results: Did The Judges Use Their Save For The Top 9?

Heejun Han American Idol

After an unprecedented five standing ovations last night, it was hard to say goodbye to any of the top nine performers on ‘American Idol’ March 29!

It was anyone’s guess who would be going home tonight on American Idol, and even though he had a flawless performance, I was pretty sure it was going to be Deandre Brackensick. But boy, was I wrong…he wasn’t even in the bottom three!

Instead, our bottom three were BFFs — Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine — and the charming Heejun Han. Sadly, I think what was perceived as Heejun’s bad attitude last week when he didn’t perform well was his kiss of death.

Despite a strong performance of Donny Hathaway‘s “A Song for You” last night, Heejun was sent packing. I’ve said this before, but it’s become increasingly difficult to critique these performers after I’ve gotten to know them personally week in and week out. Did I think Heejun would win the whole competition? No, not really. However, I’m still sad to see him go.

After all, what is Phillip Phillips going to do without his best friend?

What did you think of tonight’s elimination? Who is your favorite right now to win? Sound off below!

kirstin, i wanted to show a comment of appreciation for your precise wording re heejun— “what was perceived as bad attitude.” i’m guessing that you didn’t see it as a bad attitude, nor did i. he was just trying to show another side b/c he had been doing a lot of ballads— but, b/c the guy has a good sense of humor off-stage, people jumped to conclusions and stereotyped him as not taking anything serious. very unfair, and i’m sure made some people mad at him… that said, i can’t say it necessarily effected his voters. the people that loved him weren’t offended like steven and wouldn’t have been swayed not to vote for him. he may just have been cut b/c he didn’t have the fan base of the other big talents. regardless, i don’t think he ever had a bad attitude- he was just trying to show “fun”. i’ll miss him.

as we learned from scotty mcreery’s victory, there are a lot of country votes to be had amongst ai voters. so, i imagine skylar is going to have a couple more weeks. she has to get a little bit more special and get out of her comfort zone to end up ahead of the phenoms though. she’s good, but she’s not a phenom yet…

Age ain’t nothing but a number for these loved-up A-Listers. My BF and I both think so! He is almost 10 years older than I. We met via ~~Agelessmeet .COM~~ a nice place for younger women and older men, or older women and younger men, to interact with each other! Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends :)

don’t worry bethany! he’ll still get to tour with the group and i bet he’ll have a nice career after this. he wasn’t going to win this thing anyway, even though i’d have like to see him around for a few more weeks. the next three to go are going to be holly, skylar, and deandre. flip a coin about the order…

how much do you know about music… we have very few falsettos left and this guy deandre made it look so easy… he is currently in the drivers seat for AI2012… the rest are just karaoke singers…

hahaha… HARDLY in the drivers seat. there are too many great singers up there to say that any of them are in the drivers seat. it’s all just going to come down to what genre has the most viewers/voters. that deandre’s voice is unique in the pop scene should tell you something about his chances of making it. remember, it’s all about the votes and what’s popular. if falsetto is so popular, why isn’t there more of it out there? it ain’t just b/c nobody is good at it… sorry to say. in any case, i like deandre even tho he’s just a kid. i hope he has a nice career, but i don’t see him winning this thing.
