Chloe may have snagged the lead role of Carrie, but Selena almost got the part!

Chloe Moretz has some big shoes to fill! The 15-year-old Kick-Ass star was offered the lead in Stephen King’s remake of Carrie and she couldn’t be happier!

“Never been so happy in my life! Thank you Kim Pierce and thank u MGM for the chance of a lifetime i will never forget,” she tweeted.

In the film, Chloe will play Carrie White, a telekinetic teenager who turns prom night into a bloodbath after she’s humiliated by the popular kids. Naturally, there was fierce competition for the iconic role, including acting veteran Dakota Fanning.

Selena Gomez was also considered for the role, but ultimately we went after Chloe,” an industry insider exclusively tells HollywoodLife.com. “We think she would be perfect for the role that made Sissy Spacek an international star!”

Are YOU excited about the re-make of Carrie?
