‘The Hunger Games’: Opening Weekend Could Outsell ‘Breaking Dawn’

Katniss and company might knock Bella and Edward out of the fifth best weekend opening spot — they’re at a dead heat!

The Hunger Games and Breaking Dawn are both incredible movies, and now they are neck and neck for the fifth biggest opening weekend of all time!

The Hunger Games is projected to make $140 million, our sister site Deadline.com reports. This would make it the fifth highest opening ever.

Meanwhile, Breaking Dawn – the current holder of that title — opened just shy of that figure with $139.5 million, our sister site Deadline.com also reports. It seems like it could JUST barely get knocked out by The Hunger Games at the end of the weekend — it’s a race to box office dominance!

Just saying… The hunger games is a love story, too. Plus it’s action and much better…. I don’t hate the twilight series but I think you are all taking the parts you don’t like about the books/movies and comparing them to the best part of your favoring team. ( the huger games is a story about kids killing other kids, twilight is a love story, the hunger games is a love story, twilight has vampires killing more people than the hunger games does)
