'Vampire Diaries' Star Paul Wesley: Stefan & Elena Will Reunite 'Eventually'

Do you want to see Stefan & Elena back together, or are you enjoying her time with Damon?

Things may seem hopeless for Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) on The Vampire Diaries – especially after she caught him nomming on a human last week – but Paul promises TVLine that the good ship “Stelena” will set sail once again. “I think they needed to break up,” he tells the site. “And I think, eventually, they’ll need to get back together.”

In fact, Paul believes the couple’s Ross-and-Rachel-style break has been a good thing, because he doesn’t want fans “to get sick of any one relationship.”

And believe it or not, Paul is actually enjoying Elena’s gradual progression towards Damon (Ian Somerhalder)! ”In the most bizarre, twisted way, it’s brought the brothers to a place of camaraderie,” Paul says, “[because] they’re both in love with the same girl.”

Paul’s thoughts about the Elena-Salvatore love triangle are definitely unique, and I actually really admire that he thinks beyond the very basic “Team Stefan vs. Team Damon” shipping war — especially since this love triangle isn’t going away anytime soon.
