The ‘X Factor’ judge is so proud of his boy band sensation One Direction that he told ‘Access Hollywood’ he thinks a girl group is next for the show!
Simon Cowell told Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on March 21 that he thinks ”this is gonna be a very exciting year for pop music.” Attention: Girls band together, form a group and audition for X Factor! Simon is looking for the next One Direction, specifically a “girl version!”
Just this week, One Direction made history: The former British X Factor solo-singers-turned group are the first UK pop group to have their debut album, “Up All Night,” to reach #1 on the U.S. charts! Simon describes them as “smart boys”!
“We’ve been missing this kind of pop boom for a while, and I think this is going to be the beginning of a wave,” Simon told Billy and Kit over the phone.
His advice for a group of 3 or 4 ”good” aspiring singers? Get together and start a group!
If Simon is right, One Direction may have some female competition in the future — and we can’t wait!
