Barack & Michelle Obama’s oldest daughter was doing a service project in the country when the earthquake hit — we’re glad she’s alright!
Malia Obama is safe in Mexico after an earthquake rocked the country while she was on a school trip!
Malia, 13, is the oldest daughter of Barack & Michelle Obama. She was in the country for a school service project, the Associated Press reports.
The strong March 20 quake caused aftershocks which shook buildings in the southern region of the country. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake could be felt strongly in Oaxaca, where Malia was staying for her service trip. Luckily, Secret Service members with her guaranteed she was safe.
“[She] is safe and was never in danger,” the first lady’s communications director Kristina Schake told reporters.
We’re so glad she’s safe!
