Robert Pattinson Vs. Taylor Lautner: Did Rob Diss Taylor's Acting?

Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner appear to be good friends, but it seems like Rob may have cast the first stone in a new war of the words between the two hunks!

Rob, 25, spoke with British publication Reveal Magazine about how his acting methods differ from Taylor, 20.

“I’d have to make a lifestyle change if I wanted to do shirtless acting,” he said. “But it seems like every single actor in the world is going a ‘Taylor Lautner’ scene – it’s crazy. They have a scene where they walk out with like a 12-pack. It’s like, ‘Really? You’re playing a normal guy! That doesn’t make any sense.’ But that’s a prerequisite of being an actor. Or you can get fat!’

Of course he wasn’t dissing his acting. He just meant that a lot of actors these days are like Taylor, doing shirtless scenes but with a great body. And he’s right; its just not realistic if you’re supposed to be playing a normal guy.

Taylor looks much thinner now, he said that his work was to play Jacob but he is happy to return to his normal body, He is not obsessed with his body. And He looks grrreat both ways!!!

I’m not really a fan but I hate how Rob’s witty comments are always taken out of context! He’s so funny and the bitey remarks he makes are so freaking spot on that it’s hard to read on paper if you don’t know his sense of humor. I’m going on what I learned about him when he was Cedric lol

Doesn’t reporting require a certain level of reading comprehension? He is actually saying that Taylor’s shirtless activity was justified by the character he was playing while many of those who followed Taylor and his success are rather ridiculous because the characters they are portraying are “regular joes” who somehow all have body builder physiques. Seems like every high school student and coffee shop clerk in films now is somehow an Adonis. He is not insulting Taylor’s acting, but, the ridiculous trend that followed his success.

He clearly was NOT dissing Taylor. Jacob’s character is supposed to be super muscular but not every movie character in every movie is supposed to look like that. That is what he clearly meant. Rob looked great too in BD. Rob has said he worked out for BD but to a normal degree. Rob has said he does not want to commit to the kind of workout schedule it would take to have a “12 pack” but he was not dissing Taylor at all.
Rob seems like a really nice person. Love him.

There are so many things wrong here with your comment. 1- Its Pattinson, not pattison. 2- He’s not pale in real life; you’re thinking of his character. 3- You are mixing characters with real people- “Bella should be with Taylor not Rob?” Do you mean Kristen? Or do you mean Bella should be with Jacob, not Edward? If you mean the first; you have no right to decide who Kristen should be with. If you mean the second; too bad she ends up with Edward.

He was not dissing Taylor. Actually he was sort of complimenting him – saying he was not disciplined enough to get into that kind of shape. Rob seems like such a nice guy. Hate when his words get taken out of context or interpreted clearly the way he didn’t mean them. Rob looked great in Breaking Dawn – he worked out for that to the perfect level.

Rob has repeatedly stated he could not or does not want to tackle a regimen. He has never tried or boasted he is physically more fit than Taylor and publicly states he is not attempting to be. It isn’t his style and he isn’t trying to impress anyone with a 6, 8 or 12 pack. I read somewhere that seeing Taylor’s “new” muscles and toned body even made him feel self-conscious. I believe Rob has the utmost respect for Taylor as an actor and that Taylor has the utmost respect for Rob. Just another case of trying to make something out of nothing – media folks. This story has been around for sometime and this is the first time this spin has been put on it. It in no way is a slam to Taylor, but a reference to a popular look movie execs are looking to….some people are into that hot bod. I am not team Edward or team Jacob, but like both of them equally. I will admit…Taylor does look great and his hard work paid off, because people are talking about his fantastic transformation. However, Rob’s body isn’t nothing to be ashamed of and I think he looks good, too! Don’t drive a wedge between friend! Ugh!

I think he was rather complimenting Taylor – “everyone do a TL scene now” – means that everyone want to create what was the first reaction of when Tay took his shirt of for Twilight, which was justifiable in terms of the book( they’re no normal guys right?) but now every director and actor is trying to woo fans with similar physic and scenes even playing normal guys you know. He’s saying Taylor set kind of the bar for this scenes and I can’t see that as an insult

What women see in these guys is way beyond their looks – unlike men – we women look deeper into the person, most of the time anyway.

It’s not a diss but an observation. You guys (bad media) just insist on winding everyone up. It’s true. Why do all actors have to be built nowadays. It’s stupid and yes it comes off rather meat heady. He wasn’t offending Taylor he was only giving an example of the body type everyone has to have in order to succeed in hollywood in recent years.
