Marc Cherry’s next sure-fire hit ‘Devious Maids’ will unleash Susan’s inner diva — as if it needs any more unleashing.

Soap legend Susan Lucci may never have taken up residence on Wisteria Lane — despite the many, many rumors — but Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry still has big plans for her! reports that Susan has been given a starring role on his new ABC pilot Devious Maids, which as the title suggests, focuses on the trials and tribulations of four devious maids. Ugly Betty vet Ana Ortiz has already been cast as one of the maids, while Susan will play one of the maids’ employers.

The title may seem ridiculous, but didn’t Desperate Housewives sound crazy eight years ago? And look where it is now!

Is it me but Devious Maids is getting B list stars. The so called night time stars aren’t really any bigger than Susan Lucci. On Desperate Housewives you had Teri Hatcher and Nicollette Sheridan even Marcia Cross I guess. But the maids realy aren’t “big” names and will not be known by a lot. Yes, attractive cast but not well known.

Why do they have to be maids? How racist.
