In a new interview, Robert Pattinson compares his role as Edward Cullen in ‘Twilight’ to playing George in ‘Bel Ami’ and says there’s absolutely no way Edward would approve of George’s disgusting ways!
Robert Pattinson did a full 180 degree switch from what we’re used to seeing him play with his new role in Bel Ami. In Twilight, Rob plays Edward Cullen, whose motto might as well be “chivalry.” However, in his new film, the 25-year-old actor plays a vile character, who Rob admits Edward would hate!
“I guess there’s something quite fun about Bel Ami, going from Edward to playing some guy who pretty much abuses women to get money out of them,” Rob told Film3Sixty in a recent interview. “Edward so wouldn’t approve – and I thought that was a funny irony. But the story, independently, is great, so I only thought about the irony afterwards.”
He went on to explain George, saying, “He just doesn’t have a conscience. He’s content to do nothing and thinks everything should just be given to him. But if someone slights him, or directs any insult at him, the most overwhelming energy grabs him and he turns into this absolute devil.”
We can’t wait to see Rob evil when Bel Ami finally hits theaters in the U.S. We have a feeling we already know, but which character do YOU think you’ll like more? Sound off below!
