For those looking for the books – go over to project gutenberg. All the books are old enough that they are in the public domain, and you can find them online for no cost other than downloading them!

I agree with Bonnie, and all the positive reviews.
It was fantastic, especially in 3D. I brought the whole family…, the wife, and a son 22 and his wife , daughter of 12, and son 14, we all loved it!

For certain the critics have no idea what’s entertaining anymore. I’ve been a fan of the books for years and was ready to hate the film, and though it differs a little in the plot from the source material, you can see it was for necessary cinematic reasons. Woola was as adorably loyal, Dejah Thoris had a stronger personality, and the Tharks…

Oh, how I love the Tharks and Tars Tarkas. They really paid attention and made him the brave, strong, courageous, conflicted character he was in the books. It’s great to think this will inspire this generation to read books that laid the foundation of our ideas for modern fantasy and sci-fi. Read them all, you won’t be diappointed!

Can’t wait for the sequel, “Gods of Mars”, where we’ll meet the First Born and learn the secret of Issus, Goddess of Life and Death!

I loved it! Helps to have read the book but not essential. Title “A Princess of Mars” would have been better but bringing to life “John Carter” was a dream of mine since childhood. Ignore the critics! Listen to what the people are saying.

It is puzzling why Disney could not find a marketing campaign to connect to the audience. This is a very entertaining, well made film that should be a box office hit. The critics don’t like it because they see it as old fashioned, nothing new. They are correct but this should really be seen as a positive not a negative. John Carter harkens back to the beginning of the Sci Fi Fantasy films of the 70s and 80s but not because it is retrograde but because its source material, the Burroughs novels, predate Star Wars and the others of its ilk. And, just like those films I will see John Carter a 2nd time and purchase the DVD when it becomes available.

You will enjoy it! Don’t listen to the stuffed shirts who prefer William Shakespeare.

Saw it last night. Screw the critics. We loved it. I have been searching for the books now. I hope there will be sequels. Taylor K is a perfect hero, the perfect balance of hard/soft. Lynn plays a heroine that is intelligent and strong instead of these simpering witless weak girls we have been seeing on the screen lately. I will be hoping for more.

Your absolutely right. I don’t know whats up with these critics. This movie was a blast. If it seems like you would like a movie that is Raiders of the Lost Ark, Flash Gordon and Star Wars rolled into one this is your movie.

If you want to go see a documentary in IMAX 3D it isn’t.

I saw John Carter today and had high hopes for it. Unfortunately it ended up being 2 hours of boredom. It was a total Avatar knock off but not nearly as good.

You need to check your facts. This movie is based off of a story that was written literally 100 years ago. Avatar, Star Wars and many other Sci-Fi movies were influenced by Borroughs’s work.

Wow i definitely would pay and see this movie again. It was so much fun to watch and actually transported myself to mars lol! The special effects along with the creative characters and sending a message that its better to give than receive out of ones heart just made it more enjoyable. I really hope there is a part 2! With all the action and variety movie scenes along with picture and color with out a doubt had no boring vibe. Its Si fi and Si fi is fantasy so the script honestly had no false judgment in my opinion it was fun exciting funny and most of all a great ending! I approve this movie lol!

I agree. I saw it in Reald 3D and, while some scenes were pretty cool with the effect, overall it really didn’t add much.
