Don’t do it! If reports are true then ‘Bachelor’ Ben Flajnik will get down on his knees and propose to Courtney Robertson next Mon., Feb. 12, then their marriage will be a giant mistake.
Do Courtney Robertson and Bachelor Ben Flajnik have shared interests, common values and life goals? Have they been completely honest with each other about who they are — warts and all? Have they spend loads of time together so they’ve seen each other under stress as well as under best circumstances?
Are Courtney and Ben ready to make a truly lifelong commitment, forsaking ALL others, to love honor and cherish each other? In sickness and in health?
Now, let me see! My bet is the answer to ALL these questions is NO, NO, NO, NO and NO!
Yet, studies have shown again and again that the most successful and long-lasting marriages AREN’T based on stripping down, going skinny dipping, being nasty to other female rivals and pretending to be sweet Courtney to Ben’s face, while back-stabbing behind his back!
No, warm and loving marriages that survive adversity are NOT based on any of THOSE things. But they are based on having the same sense of values and life goals, and sharing many of the same interests.
So far, the only shared interest that Courtney and Ben appear to have is a desperate desire for fame. But #1 — that is hardly the kind of common interest that will blind a couple together forever.
#2) Bachelor Ben Flajnik and Courtney’s fame is of a particularly fleeting kind. It will be over very swiftly after their no-doubt televised wedding.
Then, this pair will be stuck with each other without the TV cameras and I bet the divorce papers will be filed so fast, this couple will make Kim Kardashian look serious about marriage.
So come on Bachelor Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson! You can’t sell yourselves into marriage merely for fame and a very small fortune! Call the whole thing off before you REALLY make a mockery of marriage.
