Miley Cyrus You're So Brave To Tweet That Science And Religion Can Co-Exist

Tue, March 6, 2012 5:06pm EDT by 44 Comments

Miley, we’re so proud of you for standing up in your new tweets about your beliefs that the world was created through evolution, even though you were attacked by some livid fans!

Miley Cyrus, you just tweeted minutes ago your response to the shocking accusations by some of your fans that you were no longer a Christian because you posted a photo on March 2nd of theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss with his quotes about the universe being created by stars exploding.

“How can people take the love out of science and bring hate into religion so easily?,” you tweeted on March 6 at 3:05pm ET.

You followed that a minute later with the tweet: “It makes me sad to think the world is this way. Like Einstein says “Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind.”

Your message to your haters is that #1, science and religion can co-exist, and #2, that love is what’s important and #3, to bring hate into religion is a terrible thing.

We couldn’t agree more, Miley! Good for you for standing up for your beliefs and for not allowing yourself to be pushed around by haters who have called you horrible names!

You’ll be pleased to know that 57% of Hollywoodlifer‘s who answered our poll on Miley’s original twitpic about physicist Lawrence Krauss didn’t find your tweets offensive!

Keep on standing up for the love, Miley!

-Bonnie Fuller

oh my i am so sorry i feel so bad . because in evolution for example like the ” missing links ” (of animals). for one thing the BIBLE THE WORD OF GOD HAS NEVER AND WILL NEVER CHANGE !! But the stories that humans have came from monkeys or fish have so that is all i am saying. i know what i am saying doesn’t make sense to you. but in the BIBLE it says that every organisms should reproduce AFTER ITS OWN KIND. and last time i check when something explodes something good doesn’t come from it. AND know body can prove that GOD has made the earth because no one was there. but we as Christians have enough faith to be able to say and believe that he did.so before you go out and say every again that evolution is true and junk just remember no one has proved anything yet. But when the SECOND COMING OF JESUS IS HERE. GOOD LUCK. oh and if the holy spirit has touched your heart with this in the BIBLE IT SAYS ” WHOSOEVER CALL-ETH ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.” so it means if you know and just believe that JESUS HAS CAME AND DIED FOR YOU THEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GO INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.SO PLEASE JUST RETHINK WHAT YOU ARE SAYING BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I COULD NEVER BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION JUST BELIEVING IN GOD CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING.:) OH NOW YOU MAY WONDER WHY PEOPLE THAT GO TO CHURCH ARE ALWAYS SO HAPPY BECAUSE NO MATTER HOW POOR YOU ARE YOU WILL KNOW BY DOING GOD’S WORK ON THE earth YOU WILL BE REWARD WITH A MANCHINE IN HAVEN!

i do not agree that religion can co exist with science because according to religious books God created everything and according to science we evolved from apesand other stuff like the big bang theory they are totally different so they should not be put 2gether.dont think im writing this cuz i dont like her the truth is that they are both different things and they cannot coexist do not be mislead and she is not even a christian.

There you go Hanna Montanna! This is the girl I adored when I was younger. You are right. I was super offended about the “forget Jesus” thing. But you are right. Science does help to prove everything in the Bible! People did not come from Monkeys, but evolution is not something that can be denied because peopel and things are still evolving today. I am 100% christian and believe that Jesus is the son of God! And Miley,,,,you are right with this one. Maybe there would have not been such a backlash if you didn’t post the whole “forget Jesus” thing. That was super lame!

Who would have thought of Miley Cyrus having an intellectual curiosity to think beyond the dogma of religion? There is hope for us yet. If Miley can stimulate the hearts and minds of young people and help them explore their world around them, I’d say she’s done a good thing. As for Christianity, if it’s on such a solid foundation, why would anyone be concerned about a challenge to it’s beliefs? What are Christians afraid of? Is it possible science could someday expose people to an alternate opinion? Too late for that. Thank goodness we are protected by the Constitution of the United States of America from religious fanatics trying to silence free thinking and rational thought!

additionally, look at every religion, they each have a “creation” story just like the bible and are meant as an explanation for things unexplainable. However that doesn’t mean they should be taken for literally what happened. God didn’t write the bible – people did. People lie all the time. The message in the bible is valid and good but to take it word for word as literal fact is very ignorant

no you are ignorant. And I am offended that you would call Christians ignorant. The bible was written by man but was God breathed and every word in it is Truth. In fact Science has not yet been able to and will never prove any part of it to be false. So maybe you should do some research before you stick your foot in your mouth. As for Christians getting offended by these words it is because we are commanded to go out into the world and help others become Christians. It is hard to do with celebs like Miley saying things like “forget Jesus”. We can’t forget Jesus, He is our ticket into Heaven!

If you say that you believe in evolution then your saying that there is no way that God ever existed. That’s why people came up with the big bang theory. They didn’t want to believe that God even existed, so they came up that. God created us from the the dust off the ground and spoke us into existence. We were not created from stardust.

actually that is not true. I am a Christian and I believe 100% of the bible. I also believe that God created everything. We cannot deny evolution. I am not saying we came from monkeys but you cannot deny evolution because people and things are still evolving even today. Evolution is not just the big bang theory it is also how thiings change and adapt to survive their enviornment. Ever heard of survival of the fittest. That is evolution right there! So we as Christians cannot deny evolution, but that does NOT mean that we decended fom monkeys (theory), and that the world came from an explosion a million years ago. (theory)

You do know that the idea of the universe starting off with the Big Bang came from Christians and atheists feared the idea because it meant there had to be a God, right?

The belief in the Presence of God is the whole of Divine Science. God is both invisible and visible, all.. but not made of stars.. we were created after the stars.. and were always souls and spirits not flesh., After a third of the angels rebelled in heaven.. this earth was established as our nursery.. home., to test if we love and have faith in God.. or hate and kill..

who are you to say that? saying that you must FULLY believe one thing and REJECT the other is the most ignorant thing I’ve ever heard. COMPROMISE and MODERATION through critical thinking is the best way to come up with your own opinion on controversial topics. There are many Christians that only believe some aspects of Christianity and there are some Scientists who believe some aspects of Christianity. saying that you must only believe one is blatant ignorance and prejudice.

Tara you cant believe that God created the earth(a christian) then say that it was created by an explosion. Its stupidity for her to say she is a christian. Any christian who believes the earth was created by an explosion isnt a christian at all. They are confused and dont know what to believe. She needs read her “Bible” again. SHE CAN BELIEVE IN WHATEVER SHE WANTS JUST SAYING like Nii said you cant believe both. Its like saying you believe in the Virgin Mary and Allah. She needs to stick to what she believes in, and not want to please anybody else. She can believe in whatever she wants.
My opinion

There are plenty of Christians out there who are not bible literalists. The Bible was written by men, not God, and it is not infallible. In fact, there are many conflicts in scripture and numerous non-canonical volumes that weren’t included in the Bible, which incidentally was put together by the council of Nicea more than 300 years after Christ lived. Belief in the story of creation as literally true is not necessary to being a Christian. One can absolutely believe in both… Miley’s intellectual curiosity is something that should be encouraged. If she comes back to her roots then good for her, and if she doesn’t that’s fine too. At least she’s actually thinking.

What kind of a Christian doesnt believe in the whole bible! If you dont believe in the whole bible then they arnt Christians, their a religion not envolving a true christian, either she is a Christian or not! I cant say im an atheist and believe in God, its not possible to believe two things. Nobody is condeming her if she isnt a christian but she needs to figure out what she believes.
