Miley Cyrus's Shocking Tweet! Is It An Attack On Christianity?

Mon, March 5, 2012 2:40pm EDT by 168 Comments
Miley Cyrus Anti-Christian

Fans are livid that Miley Cyrus tweeted a controversial quote about an evolutionary philosopher — are they taking it too far?

Miley Cyrus entered Hollywood as a fun-loving, traditional southern girl with strong religious and moral beliefs. But as the teen queen grew into her “cannot be tamed” persona, she pulled a few stunts that landed her on the “Good Girls Gone Bad” list. Miley’s loyal fans have always defended her questionable behavior, but a recent tweet may have sent them over the edge.

“Beautiful,” Miley tweeted with a photo of a theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss.

On the photo is one of his quotes reading, “You are all stardust. You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements (carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, all the things that matter for evolution) weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in stars. So forget Jesus. Stars died so you can live.”

Some fans were livid Miley would post a picture that said “forget Jesus” and advocated evolution. One fan attacked her saying, “So are you no longer a Christian? Forget Jesus??? Seriously? What has happened to you out there in the famous world? What????”” Another person tweeted, “You seriously believe that crap? It’s so ridiculously stupid. Go to hell.”

Other fans think haters are taking the tweet too seriously. Miley didn’t respond directly to any of the backlash, but backed up her post with a gay rights, “NO H8″ tweet and a picture of herself with the tagline, “We could all: Love more.”

Tell us what YOU think? Do YOU think Miley’s tweet is offensive, or are her fanes being too sensitive?

Miley was completely wrong about posting that. Now if she believes that to. be true, I guess there is nothing wrong with someone voicing their opinion. But there is no way she could post that and her be a Chrstian because the Holy spirit wouldn’t allow that. She would be under so much conviction that she would have no choice but to apologize because she would feel guilty. I just pray that she one day will see the light

Thank you for proving Miley’s point. How can we truly Gods People if we are judging people for their different way of believing?

There is no wrong or right way to believe in Jesus or in God. Nobody should be judged on the way he or she deals with their religion. Because God gave us free will.

Only Him can judge us. It is not upon us to do this.

I have to say, though I absolutely do not agree with her decision to put that quote onto her twitter for professional reasons, I can’t say that she doesn’t have a right to do so. I am a Christian and believe that everyone has a right to think and believe as they want even if I don’t agree. What I don’t agree with is the way she is trying to change her image. Talking about drugs, saying stupid controversial things to make the transition doesn’t make her an adult or gain her older fans. It doesn’t make her mature. We saw this with Lindsay Lohan and now after years of her acting out, she is just starting to build up her professional image and career again.

On the other hand, if her Christian fans are truely Christian, they will respond kinder and be understanding. I do not think Christians should sit back and accept the attacks but there is a way to stand up for what you believe in without bashing someone elses views and being respectful. It says in Romans 14:1-12 that we are not to look down on each other because one believes in Christ and the other does not “for we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.” This continues into verse 13 “Therefore, let us no longer criticize one another, but instead decide not to put a stumbling block or pitfall in your brother’s way.” Christians should follow this and live it. We are to build each other (Christians and non-believers) up even if one of us is down. And if she has lost faith, cursing her, calling her new beliefs (if they are new) ridiculous, or calling her crazy is not representing who Christ is to her or the world.

Am I really the only one with common sense? This was NOT an attack against Christianity.

First of all, (Like I said before) There is no wrong or right way to believe in Jesus or in God. Nobody should be judged on the way he or she deals with their religion.

Secondly, If you had read and understand the quote that came afer this one, you should have understand the context:

How can be Christianity be good, if people are being judged by their SEXUAL orientation? Or by their gender and religion? Was not it so that we should love everyone, because God loves and care of each of all of us?

Even those who are agnostic or mixing Creation with Evolution should not be judged. Only God can. It is not upon us to do that.

Thirdly, Are not we (Yes. I am christian as well. Protestant to be precise.) that hypocritical (sp?) Saying that we will not judge everyone because only God can, but at the same time doing this.

Miley is deep religious, but getting cynic, because of those who gives christianity a bad name.

The quote is beautiful and completely accurate. Most intelligent Christians understand what a metaphor or parable is, and therefore accept that we were not actually created in a garden a few thousand years ago, from dirt. The simple scientific facts in the quote are not very hard to understand unless you really are mentally challenged. This is basic high school physics.

I think Christians are the worse kind of people out here. they are the ones always judging people and if your not the way they want you to be then your evil and their answer for something is always that your going to hell. what you believe in should not matter. have any religion you want. i think it should only matter if your a good person in life and do things that make you happy.

That’s just exaclty what the world wants you to think. ” As long as I am happy, that’s all that matters ” but I know that Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven. The people you call Christians probably aren’t true Christians. Being a Christian is having an intimate relationship with the Creator, God. And only in Him will you find true happiness.

Porque…¿¿por que solo ellos se tienen que sentir atacados cuando alguien no cree en lo mismo que ellos??? O sera que los no cristianos si saben lo que es respeto y tolerancia a las diferencias y los otros no??

Could it be possible that, Miley, who could have atheistic or agnostic views, has a right to express her opinion and that calling this expression an “ATTACK” on Christianity is a completely radical over-exaggeration?

I hear Christians talk all the time about how Muslims act so “crazy” when someone judges their religion or claims it is false. Muslims go off the deep end and start lighting things on fire. While Christians in America don’t (usually) go off and get violent about it… they sure aren’t far from the radical reactions.

Any Christian who considers someone’s opposing viewpoint as an attack on their own beliefs is no different (in ideology) than those religious folks in the Middle East. It is absolute intolerance to the fact that opposing viewpoints not only exist, but may even have some credibility.

Alright. Lets bring some common sense in this very delicate topic. Again.

The way the tweet was said (or written) was not AGAINST Christianity. It was a message that without the basics, that have made the stars we were not alive know.

Even Christians asked this question: How can we be sure that God have made the stars?

Besides, there is no wrong or right way to believe in Jesus or in God. Nobody should be judged on the way he or she deals with their religion.

Seeing the tweet that came after the other, I can understand why:

How can be Christianity be good, if people are being judged by their sexual orientation, gender and religion? Was not it so that we should love everyone, because God loves and care of all of us?

Are not we (Yes. I am christian as well. Protestant to be precise.) that hypocritical (sp?) Saying that we will not judge everyone because only God can, but at the same time doing this.

I wish more Christians thought like you do. We’d have a much easier time spreading logic and reason. God won’t do anything to stop that from happening… since he doesn’t exist.

This puts you in a bit of a pickle. You can now decide you want to actively defend your faith (thereby admitting I am right and god does not exist) OR you can continue to do nothing and hope beyond hope that some mystical force stops the progression and success that science has had in wiping away religion.

The best part is… either way… atheism wins.

Its always amazing for people to discuss if in fact ‘JESUS’
is real! JESUS Does exist and is quite real. Her is a man that infact walked upon the earth.Still today after his body died on the cross,He is the most talked about Man EVER,and for the longest time EVER!(Even after he rose from the dead) This alone is proof that Jesus exists and is here for US when ever we ask him into our lives. Not to mention all the miricles that I personally have seen.I really don’t know exactly Miley’s belief now.My opinion she knows that when we pray to JESUS we are praying to GOD,and when we pray to God we are praying to JESUS.They are 1 and the same.’The bible says you have to go through Jesus to get to our heavenly father, and when you pray to the father you are praying to Jesus~’Jesus’IS REAL~
Jesus Made the stars he created the heaven & earth. This topic JESUS -V- Evolution will always end with the statement
‘ Who Made and or created ??????? ‘ I will always say My Heavenly Father Created all questions and answers and all things. As Far as ~Physicist Lawrence Krauss Jesus loves all his children even this one. ~Hi Miley!

Jesus is NOT the most talked about man “for the longest time EVER!(Even after he rose from the dead)”. Great societies, rulers, and thinkers had come and gone long before Jesus lived. Socrates, Plato, Caesar, and Alexander the great come to mind.

In regards to Mr. Krauss, he’s right you know. All those words about stars etc. are true. We’ve observed nature and mathematics and proven these things to a much more reliable degree than any answer offered by religion. Believe what you want about God, but don’t strike down patent fact. Blind ignorance has been the catelyst for more hate, suffering, and violence in this world than any other factor.

Even Homer Simpson knows your argument doesn’t make sense. What if you’re believing in the wrong God, and every time you pray to Jesus or go to church, you’re just make the real god angrier and angrier?

Better to just believe in facts — we know stars explode, we know how heavy elements are fused from hydrogen and helium, and we know what atoms make up our bodies. Therefore we know that we wouldn’t exist if stars hadn’t exploded, or died, before.

It’s always amazing for people to discuss Jesus at all in public media. Only one group of people care about Jesus and that is christians. No one is required to be christian. In fact people don’t have to be religious at all. It is only extremest christians that care if someone says Forget Jesus or Oh MY God. I believe every miracle and accident has a concrete reason for occurring. it isn’t a godly hand. I think instead of whining about other peoples beliefs you should concentrate on being a better person instead of a bigot. Because this country has too many cultures and beliefs for someone so single-minded.

If you disagree with me calling you a bigot then here is a definition: A bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices, especially one exhibiting intolerance, and animosity toward those of differing beliefs.

And all of you supposed christians saying “go to hell” and condemning her for not being a christian can’t even be considered christian yourselves. This is america – stop worrying about what somebody else believes. This is one reason I am no longer christian. The contradiction and condemnation on those who don’t believe as the christians cannot be ignored. It is actually quite rediculous to think we have a say in what somebody else believes. The previous poster wrote that Christians are punishing themselves to Hell by condemning others because of this:

Matthew 5:44-48 I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

One would think that since you’re so adamantly dedicated to the Bible, you would have read it.
