Also, while we’re on the topic of Sara, let me just briefly say that the word on the street is that Sara is dating a Clippers player…I don’t know if it’s true, but this is according to someone who lives in Santa Clarita. It could make sense.

I think they’re not allowed to date the players on the team they work for. Or at least I’ve heard that before. Although I honestly can’t remember if I heard it about basketball or football or just every sport.

How do you know the clippers bf didn’t take her out? They were at cirque during the day. Dates, when it’s a real one, tend to happen at night.

I’m not saying that I believe she’s dating a Clipper’s player at all so no one get the wrong impression from me for saying what I’m about to say. NBA players make from $400,000- millions a year so if she has an NBA bf then he COULD have purchased that Proenza Shouler bag. Also, like Mel said, that wasn’t a night show. I did some research on the Cirque website and found that the performance they attended was at 2 o’clock in the afternoon…like I said, please don’t believe that I’m supporting this idea, I’m just giving you the facts.

She’s talking about Sara’s friend Jessica Quinn. Jessica also doesn’t like the Twilight Saga. That doesn’t mean she can’t be friends with people who do or with people who like LC. You’re also leaving out the fact that Jessica said she thought she was cute but that LC’s eyebrows bug her. lol

Okay, I have to confess. I know there are people on Twitter talking about this thread…specifically about me. All I would like to say is that for people who’s native language is not English…if you say someone is “bugged” by something it means that they are annoyed by something. People are mistranslating me into their own language. I did not say that Lily’s eyebrows look like bugs! -.-

IMO TL just wants work. Most actors accept different character roles (many auditions) just to continue a paycheck. Acting is a very competitive field and audience-appeal is hard to maintain. Lionsgate just bought Summit which makes them owner of both Twilight series & Hunger Games. Abduction was like any movie- a gamble.

Yea I agree. I DO want to see Taylor gain more experience and shed his heart throb persona, but at the same time, I’m not sure doing a nude scene as well as playing a sex-crazed drug addict would be a role that is good for his career right now, nor one I’d want to see. :-/

I understand you may not be comfortable seeing TL in such a role, but he may consider it for career longevity. As I mentioned, he needs to show studios he’s versatile and bankable. IMO studios saw had bad Abduction did at the box office domestically. Although it did well in foreign markets, US studios measure success by the US box office take. This factors in for hiring decisions as well. By seeing that TL playing lead as Mr. Good Guy doesn’t put butts in the seats (and make a profit), studios are now gun shy. Lionsgate threw TL under the bus big time when it publicly released its third quarter report: a loss of $50 million. One of the reasons cited: poor performances of 3 Lionsgate movies – Conan, Warrior and Abduction. I ask you: if someone puts out publicly you’re a reason why our company lost a boat load of money, would you hire him? Show business is that…a business.

This goes to Gus Van Sant and Adam Sandler. Van Sant may see something that he could help mold into a good actor and help TL earn critical acclaim. Going egdy (and possibly nude) could be part of it. Sandler picked TL for Grown Ups 2 to get a young crowd in the multiplex. A good script and a good and funny performance can show TL can be a commercial success outside Twilight. These moves could be a two-pronge approach for taking his career to the next level.

@aquarius64, I disagree with you on that. TL needs to proof himself but playing a sex addict is not the way to go. There are many other ways he can proof himself without having to stoop this low. Personally, I think he just needs more experience. He should have never done abduction and should start of stars in a smaller role or in an essemble case like Valentines Day. This way he still able to keep himself out there and also won’t be slammed if the movie fail. That was also why I was disappointed that he didn’t get to do X-Men as that movie will definitely expose him to more male audiences. Bottom line is that I will be very disappointed if he decide to go nude just to try and proof himself and I don’t think it’ll work either.

I agree @Fan. I feel like Taylor might have been a little cocky coming off of the Twilight success and therefore thought he could handle an entire movie by himselfeven though Taylor admitted in an interview that he didn’t have much experience before Twilight. I agree that being apart of something that has a natural appeal to men (Dark Night, Avengers, Transformers- even though I have my own opinion about that, and Spider Man) I’m not saying he has to be a superhero because honestly “Stretch Armstrong” sounded lame from the beginning. But he should play a supporting character or costar in a movie that is bound to have success in male audiences (since TL said that is who he was trying to appeal to with Abduction). I don’t see how playing a sex-crazed drug adict is an advancement. However, I think TL would also do well in a Nicholas Sparks type of role, however that would only work if he was trying to gain more appeal from a female audience.

You many not like Nicholas Sparks, but I don’t mean him specifically I mean a role like one you would find in a Sparks novel. Something romantic that could capture TL’s softer side.

Usually, a nude scene isn’t necessary for the story to be good. A Gus Van Sant-sex-crazed druggie is not a movie for me.

I agree with you all .So far it is a rumor, I don’t think he’s trying to shed his good guy image at all. Taylor probably wants to play in a grittier role to see how it is (if this character is angsty). I don’t think he would play a provocative role just to make sure he can be taken seriously I don’t believe he’s that desperate unlike some people in YHW. If he does play a role like this I’m sure he wouldn’t hesitate by saying what things he’s comfortable doing and things he’s not comfortable with. He really seems like the type to respect his own morals.

I am really excited to see every diverse role he can play whether it’s in comedy, action, drama, romance etc.

Yea I agree with you. I don’t think he’s trying to shed the “good guy” image so much as he’s trying to really just do more diverse and edgier roles. “Edgy” doesn’t always equal “bad boy” image. It could be a film that he’s in that tackles a more serious subject matter, or something that is usually more taboo

That’s why I want to see how he handles a comedy. I guess we’ve gotten a taste of how he does funny but can you imagine if he nails it? It could a big step in the right direction and he really wouldn’t have to suddenly shift gears on his fans. Funny hot guy is a role that comes up a lot and most times males think its funny while girls think its great seeing a hot funny guy. IE a romantic comedy heavy on the comedy.

I agree with a lot of you guys! Especially @Soapbox. I don’t think TL should take the same road as Miley Cyrus and many other teen stars who just decided to go after provocative/racy roles in attempt to gain appeal from an adult audience. I’ve heard talk that the Gus Van Sant role would portray TL as a sex-crazed drug addict…hmmm I don’t know if Taylor can pull off that role at this stage in his career. Nor do I think that’s a step in the right direction. I have heard other speculation about the Gus Van Sant role, but personally I’m not going to get too attached to it because Taylor still hasn’t officially said that he’s working with Gus and honestly TL is known for committing to roles and then dropping them later on. I think he would do better in a romantic comedy or romantic drama. Something with a little edge. In fact if Taylor were to do another action movie I think he should try playing the bad guy instead of the hero.

But what’s wrong with playing the hero? It works for the gritty action actors. Harrison Ford came to mind eventhough I dont know why since I’ve only seen him play hero and bad boy with a heart of gold.Lol I think it’s just an age issue. Hear me out…he’s right there where young and old alike can be into him (not that there aren’t stragglers on both sides when someone is super young or super old) but it comes with just being older. You lot mention Leo D. Ok but it wasn’t just that he took on better roles it’s also that as he grew up so did his fan base you get me? One again, see stragglers on both sides, but the majority grew up too. So I think this will happen with TL. The 13 year olds won’t stay 13 forever and maybe they’ll come to learn that “hot” is only one piece in TL’s bag of tricks. As for everything else..I don’t know. I think that as a conservative person I like how AJ Cook says she won’t do nudity or a sex scene because of her morals so not TL but actors in general shouldn’t just do something to “shed” a certain stereotype. That always bugged me when actors say they were uncomfortable but “had to do it” to shake off a character they were typecast as. Also, playing a sex addict doesn’t help in him shedding his “hot guy” status. You know dirty men and women everywhere are going to get all hot and bothered and make him even more of a sexual outlet for themselves. Thus proving that one more time he’ll be seen as a piece of meat. You and I might praise the performance but what makes headlines? Sex sells. That’s only if it’s heading in that direction.

@Soap Box
Good points! You make some pretty valid points.

First of all, I don’t think there is ANYTHING wrong with playing the “hero”. In fact, 9 times out of 10 I usually like the heroic “nice guy” in films.

HOWEVER…I think in TL case, it’s more so a question of “can he be versatile?” that is the big issue here. See, Hollywood likes versatility. Versatility = Marketability. Marketability = Bankable. And in Hollywood, sorry to say…it’s really ALL about money. It kind of sucks since back in the day, people just made GOOD films and didn’t really care which rank it made at the “Box Office” that weekend. But unfortunately, THESE days, it’s all about the mighty dollar. :-/

If Taylor shows more directors through his versatile films and characters that he can play more than one kind of guy (ie. not just the “hunk” of the month, or the “heart throb pretty boy”) then he will start to have more directors giving him roles because they have more faith in him.

True, the fan base does get older with age…but that’s like asking which came first? The chicken or the egg? Did the fan base get older? Or, did these actors start choosing edgier or more diverse roles as they themselves got OLDER and more experienced in the business? It might be a combo of both, so there’s no sure way to tell. All I know is that if you can win over the GUY population, then as an actor you will thrive in this business. If your main fan base is girls and women, then…..it will be more difficult to break through sad to say. At this point, I’d even be okay with him playing in a Super Hero film like “Spiderman” or even Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” Franchise (Robin anyone?? lol) because at least THEN I would know that this would put him in front of a majority MALE audience who usually flocks to see these films, and so he would have the chance to be something differnt than the “pretty boy”. The female fan base only keeps other guys being jealous and wanting to see this guy fail imo. :-/

I’ll use Ryan Gosling as another example. If he had continued to just do films like “The Notebook”, he would have surely been type cast. But he didn’t. Since then, he’s gone on to do other types of films, playing different types of characters. “Fracture”, “All Good Things”, “Drive” , “The Ides of March” and “Crazy Stupid Love” are all different films and DIFFERENT characters for him.

Oh btw, I agree with you that I don’t think Taylor should just take ANY role simply to try to shed his “good guy” image. :-(

Do you think he’d feel UNCOMFORTABLE playing a sex-crazed drug addict?? Because if so, then I wouldn’t want him to take that role either. :-/ But goodness knows, our guy likes a challenge! He likes the adrenaline rush! But I do respect actors/actresses who state firmly that they won’t be doing certain things in films just to get roles. I DO respect that. If he feels that way, then I don’t think he should do just ANYTHING to get more diversity in films.

And we certainly don’t need him being looked at like a piece of meat! lol… He’s already objectified enough as it is in my opinion. :-/

Good points. TL mentioned once he would do another shirtless role if the role called for it. So it’s safe to say he will be willing to nudity if required and not gratuitous. Studios are gun shy because of Abduction’s performance. He needs to stretch out and nail the roles to make himself marketable.

Oh WOW! You know, I wasn’t even thinking NUDE scene when I heard about that GVS role. O_O

I think personally that doing a nude scene so early in his career wouldn’t be the best choice for Taylor right now. :-/ If he already doesn’t like the attention he gets for taking his shirt off, I can only IMAGINE the questions/comments he’d receive for doing a nude scene right now. Oy vey…… :-/

I honestly think that his next “big” role should be one that is serious, and one that doesn’t focus on his body at all. They need to see him as the ACTOR, not just the “heart throb”.

I don’t know if anyone read my comment I replied to CrystalC earlier but I wouldn’t mind seeing taylor play a bad guy in a movie it’ll be pretty interesting.
