New Pregnant Celeb Trend: Maternity Conceriges

From advice on what to put in the nursery to how to choose a hospital, these ‘baby planners’ help celebs prepare for their little bundle of joy!

With everything from securing a birthing room to figuring out which baby stroller to use, pregnancy is a stressful time for any expectant mother. This is why Ellie Miller and Mellissa Gould started a maternity business — The Baby Planners — in 2006 to help make those nine months a whole lot easier on women. With a number of stars preparing for their bun in the oven — including Kourtney Kardashian, Molly Sims and Jessica Simpson — we wonder which pregnant celebs are participating in this new trend!

So what exactly does a maternity concierge do?

According to FT.com, when it comes to celebs, the duties of a maternity concierge may include taking care of every last detail upon the baby’s arrival, whether it be making sure the birthing room is decorated to the liking of the pregnant star or figuring out what to with all the free gifts.

“We’re there to tell them what’s useful and can take the rest to charity,” explains Ellie. “It can be a bit of a PR nightmare in this economy if you are seen with a new stroller every day. It looks ostentatious.”

Besides deciding on the essentials, these baby planners can also help moms look their best once the baby comes!

“Women want to make themselves look good,” Ellie says. “They will get pedicures and waxing appointments before giving birth. In LA, there’s a lot of pressure on women to bounce back and look like Jessica Alba within weeks of giving birth. If they make sure preparations beforehand it takes some of the pressure off.”

What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Would you ever use a maternity concierge?

I absolutely recommend using a baby planner. If you have no prior experience with babies, why not take advantage of such a resourceful service?!
