Find out what makeup trends you’ll be seeing at the 2012 Academy Awards, how to get the looks and which celebs to watch for on the red carpet!
Academy Awards Makeup Department Head and Olay Ambassador Bruce Grayson tells HollywoodLife.com that translucency and minimalism are going to be huge at the awards. Polished, effortless eyeshadow, blush, lipstick and foundation will be the focus on celebs like Angelina Jolie. Pulling off this look, however, starts well before the awards with skincare prep! Keep reading to find out what Bruce recommends.
Well before an important event, Bruce says moisturizing is key. “It’s February, it’s dry!” exclaims Bruce. Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream now comes in a fragrance free formula that Bruce recommends. Bruce also advises clients to remove facial hair with the Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo and treat fine lines and puffiness around your eyes with the Olay Regenerist Anti-Aging Eye Roller in advance of a special event like the Oscars.
Once prepped and ready for makeup application, Bruce suggests adding a bit of moisturizer into your foundation for a creamy, smooth finish. To blend the foundation flawlessly, Bruce uses a Beauty Blender sponge that has been lightly misted with water.
Overuse of makeup is a common mistake, according to Bruce. If you have prepped your skin and applied your foundation properly, you probably won’t need much concealer if you need it at all.
Now on to color! As part of the minimal makeup look, Bruce foresees a “diffused modified cat eye” that uses the side of an eyeliner brush or pencil to lightly brush color along the lid instead of jamming the pigmented tip of your product along the lids.
Bruce’s lip predictions are soft and sweet as well. “Moisture-based pinks” are on his trend-to-try list. Start with a gloss like Rosebud Salve to moisten your lips before applying your favorite pink or mauve lipstick shade.
Another trick for a dewy, soft finish is to add your moisturizer to a cream blush to make the shade very sheer without adding any shimmer.
So who should you have your eyes fixed on this Sunday, February 26, at the Oscars? Bruce says to watch out for Halle Berry, Rooney Mara and Angelina Jolie!
