The polish guru explains an easy way to achieve the colored-tip manicure that celebs and runway models alike have been wearing this week.

Backstage at the Badgley Mischka fall 2012 fashion show, Deborah Lippmann, in charge of the designer’s polish look, tells how to get the manicure at home — no salon necessary!

The manicure that the models wore was a combination of Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer in Dark Side of the Moon and a stripe of Nefertiti on the tips.

You don’t need any special tools to create the look. Deborah’s trick to creating a flawless stripe at the tip is to move your finger, not the polish brush. Brace the palm of the hand being painted on something stable, then also brace the hand wielding the polish. Get the brush into position at one end of the nail tip and simply roll your finger until the tip is coated with a line of polish.

What a fabulous trick! Will you try this manicure at home?
