Whitney’s family will hold a much smaller funeral than expected on Feb. 18 at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ — are you disappointed there isn’t a public memorial service?

Whitney Houston will be laid to rest in the church where she grew up singing. We told you that Whitney’s body arrived in a gold herse at the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, NJ., on the night of Feb. 13 and finally the dispute over where the funeral will be held has been settled.

Many thought that Whitney might be buried in Atlanta since that was her primary residence for years with her ex-husband Bobby Brown and her 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina. But the AP is confirming that Whitney’s private funeral will be held at noon at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ.

The Whigham Funeral home is the same place that handled the 2003 funeral of Whitney’s father. Whitney was born in Newark and sang at New Hope Baptist church where her mother, Cissy Houston led the music program.
