The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge barely avoided a fiery death when their British Airways jet escaped a collision with another aircraft on a Heathrow runway in London, it was revealed today.
How frightening! Prince William and Kate Middleton were reportedly “terrified” when the pilot of the Airbus A320-200 that they were riding in was forced to perform a steep climb at the last minute before landing, in order to avoid crashing into another aircraft that hadn’t cleared the runway in time, according to the Daily Mail.
Kate, William and the other passengers onboard the aircraft were unhurt – thank goodness- but Kate in particular was apparently “deeply unsettled” by the incident according to the Daily Mail. Who wouldn’t be?
The incident occurred Nov 2 when the pair were returning from Copenhagen, Denmark after a humanitarian mission. ” This was a really serious incident and would have been terrifying to those on board,” a source close to the incident told People.
Now, William and Kate have made a point of traveling commercial and not taking private planes, which has furthered endeared them to the British people. Hopefully, this incident won’t shake their resolve to be more like “us.”
