Josh and his co-star Jennifer Lawrence tell MTV that there’s no point in comparing ‘The Hunger Games’ series to the ‘Twilight’ phenomenon — do you agree?

It’s a Hunger Games versus Twilight battle and we want to know whose side are you on! In a new interview with MTV, Josh Hutcherson says The Hunger Games, based on the books by Suzanne Collins, couldn’t be any more different than our beloved vampire franchise.

“I get why people make the connections, because it’s a very popular book, especially amongst young people,” Josh says. “However, I think it’s an entirely different world, and the challenges the characters face are very different. I mean Hunger Games is about survival and giving power to the individual. I think that’s sort of the big message behind Hunger Games.”

But Twilight is about survival too, don’t you agree? Bella Swan [Kristen Stewart] is constantly fighting for her life to escape the Volturi and she even has to carry a half vampire baby!

If you had to choose, are you Team Twilight or Team The Hunger Games?

Katniss and Peeta fight to the death on live TV. Bella has to decide wether to marry Edward or not. I think THG is WAY BETTER!!

To compare these two books is rediculous!
Twilight is all about romance. Its shallow as hell, and the books are very badly written. It maybe entertaining to a 12-14 year old who does not read very much, and had simple taste. The movies, i admit, are intertaining, but the acting is terrible.
The Hunger Games has depth, and meaning. it isant just about a weak usless girl, who falls in lust with a vampire, and is so helpless its irritating. Its a deep story. Its realistic in the way the characters react to one and other, and Katniss can handle herself, shes not constantly falling over a good looking guy, and expecting to be saved every minute. Besides the hunger games is hardly a love story. I dont even think she uses the word ‘love’ at all in all three book, besides when she refers to her sister.
This book focuses on other more important thing, falling in love isant the only thing thats important.

Wait a minute? The Hunger Games has no point? Then why did it give me nightmares? It’s realistic, and it could happen. Now having a sparkling Vampire? That’s NOT realistic, and it’s completely fiction. Yes, both books are fiction, but Collins writes about the future, and it COULD happen. North America COULD fail, and colonies could take over. There is no such thing as sparkly vampires nor will there ever be. There’s no comparison here, because Twilight is about love, and The Hunger Games is about control, and what the Capitol can do to you. To say the Hunger Games is boring, is ignorant, because it could be your future.

twilight is so much better then hunger games. And you shouldnt be comparing twilight and hunger games because, twilight is romance and hunger games is about adventure but since we are comparing them twilight is much better

i am a fan of both. but i have to agree that it’s different. you’ll realise that hunger games is realistic while twilight is not.

the cast of both movies are all amazing. hunger games has a big potential though. i am so excited to see the movie! i mean, who isn’t?

The Hunger Games is in a totally different league from Twilight. In Twilight, the Bella brings all her misery upon herself. The Hunger Games takes place in a world where kids are forced to fight to the death, for people’s entertainment. There’s a lot more going on than just romance, it’s about fighting for everything you stand for, an oppressive government in a dystopian world.

Totally agree.. I like twilight book but, Bella’s character sometimes doesn’t make sense to me. She tried to kill herself just because the boyfriend left her, she doesn’t care about her family (sometimes). I love THG!

Twilight is way better than The Hunger Games. Stephenie Meyer isnt the best author in the world but she has a great imagination. I just finished the first Hunger Games book and couldn’t get into it at all. Sorry, there is no way that THG will come close to Twilight

Um, did you make millions of dollars for your imagination? No, I don’t think so. Collins hasn’t sold nearly the amount of books that Meyer has. 150 million versus 15 million is nothing. The hunger games is predicted to make only 50 million opening weekend and 200 million total domestic. That’s crap compared to Twilight’s $70 million opening and $392 million domestic… And so far people who have pre-screened the hunger games have nothing good to say about it.
