‘Breaking Dawn’ star Peter Facinelli explains in a new interview why Edward Cullen & Bella Swan’s love story is soo addictive.

It’s no fluke why Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan’s (Kristen Stewart) love story in The Twilight Saga has completely captivated so many fans, Peter Facinelli told Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb during his Feb. 7 appearance on the Today show “It’s not a typical vampire movie, it’s about forbidden love,” he told the hosts. Facinelli, who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the films, called his “son” Edward Cullen, played by Rob, “a timeless gentleman,” explaining the character’s enormous appeal to young women.

Peter also said he felt that playing Carlisle hasn’t typecast him. In fact, it has allowed him to play very different characters in other film and television projects.

Breaking Dawn, Part 1 comes out Feb. 17 on DVD.
