M.I.A. is ‘sorry,’ according to a close source — so why won’t she apologize herself?
Did Madonna even perform during the Super Bowl halftime show? We can’t remember, because all anyone cares about how is that M.I.A. whipped out her middle finger during “Give Me All Your Luvin’.” Though the rapper has yet to release an official statement about the incident, the UK’s Daily Mail credits a member of M.I.A.’s team as saying it was just “a case of adrenaline and nerves. She wasn’t thinking. It wasn’t any kind of statement. She was caught in the moment and she’s incredibly sorry.”
Meanwhile, both NBC and the NFL has already profusely apologized for the incident — simultaneously blaming each other for the slip.
“There was a failure in NBC’s delay system,” says NFL Vice President of Communications Brian McCarthy. “The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans.”
NBC’s response?
“The NFL hired the talent and produced the half-time show. Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.”
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Does M.I.A. need to apologize?

A middle finger. Because everyone in the NFL and all NFL fans never EVER show the middle finger. And because kids totally understand what it is without seeing negative reactions from anybody else. A gesture is what you make it out to be. M.I.A. doesn’t need to apologize for anything.
