Rob seduces and sleeps with several beautiful women in ‘Bel Ami’ and he says it couldn’t be any more different from ‘Twilight’s’ Edward Cullen — which of Rob’s character’s do you like more?
Robert Pattinson knows his new role in Bel Ami is pretty racy, but he also knows that not everyone will be able to watch him sleep with tons of women! In Twilight, his character Edward Cullen famously waited until his wedding night to sleep with Bella Swan [Kristen Stewart], but that’s definitely not the case in this flick!
“Edward so wouldn’t approve!” Rob tells the Herald Scotland. “So, yes, I thought that was a funny irony. But the story, independently, is great, and I only thought about the irony afterwards. The thing that stands out in the story in Bel Ami is just his behaviour —the women that he manages to screw over are all attracted to him to begin with and so he starts having affairs with them and destroys their lives afterwards!”
But Rob definitely admits that the transition from total virgin to full-on womanizer was different … but still a blast!
“With Bel Ami, though, I guess there is something quite fun about going from Edward Cullen to playing a guy who pretty much abuses women to get money out of them.”

I can’t wait to see Bel Ami. The sex! And the period costumes . . . and the sex, and the setting . . . Rob, Rob, Rob—in this role with oodles and oodles of SEX! Ooh la la. Also, the idea that this guy is such a creep but comes out on top (literary too, ha ha) is intriguing to me. I have the book on my to read list as well. I think Rob’s statement is pretty funny. Edward Cullen was a virgin at 107 years old? No wonder he was so uptight. (Okay, back to work now for me.)
