He may be the creative director at major design house Chanel, but does that give him the right to criticize the talented singer? Read on for more from Karl’s shocking interview.
Karl Lagerfeld is known for many things, including his opinionated comments — but his latest statement, regarding Adele, was totally unnecessary. “The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice,” Karl told the Metro. While we think Karl was totally out of line, he didn’t stop there.
In the interview, he also addressed M.I.A. and the middle finger incident at the Super Bowl, saying, “Nowadays people give the middle finger quite quickly – it’s not the best behavior. Everybody does that, what’s new about that? It’s just become a bad habit. People in magazines are 50% bimbo and 50% pregnant women.”
Karl went on to talk about the “very ugly” men in Russia. “If I was a woman in Russia I would be a lesbian, as the men are very ugly. There are a few handsome ones, like Naomi Campbell’s boyfriend, but there you see the most beautiful women and the most horrible men,” he said.
If Karl wanted to compliment Adele, he should have kept his opinion about her weight to herself — it’s just plain rude! Luckily for Adele, she doesn’t need Karl in her corner — she has a flourishing career and a Vogue cover on the way.
